The parents of Laurent Simons, nine, wanted him to graduate before his birthday on 26 December so he could be the first university graduate under 10.

But Eindhoven University told them there were still too many exams Laurent needed to take before then. His parents refused an offer of a mid-2020 graduation date, and immediately removed him from the course.

Laurent was supposed to complete the three-year electrical engineering degree in just 10 months so he could meet his birthday deadline.

That kid doesn't stand a chance... his life will be totally hosed (and likely very short)

I know how exactly how these parents feel. My 9yo won't graduate from electrical engineering school either.

I went to h.s. with an 8/9 year old. Had a master's in some advanced mathematics from UVA by the time he could drive. It was an interesting experience from our end, couldn't imagine what it was like for him.

Those parents just buy an SUV and join travel ball. They don't sign them up for the draft in a professional sport.

Ted transferred to Evergreen Park Central Junior High School. After testing scored his IQ at 167,[12] he skipped the sixth grade. Kaczynski later described this as a pivotal event: previously he had socialized with his peers and was even a leader, but after skipping ahead he felt he did not fit in with the older children and was bullied.[13]

Who is going to hire a 10 year old to be an electrical engineer? That’s right, nobody. He’s just gonna get a PhD, do it in 2 or 3 years, then get another one, and maybe by the time he’s 18 he’ll get a real job. By then he’ll probably realize he hates electrical engineering

He’s talking about soccer. And soccer does actually generate pro athletes very early in their development

Reading his letters, no matter how bright you believe yourself to be, is a humbling experience.
