My son and I were in downtown Raleigh for a few days recently. Other than the nightmare they call parking, it was nice. No homeless people all over (like downtown ATL) and the areas were clean and tidy.

They did have a solid city police presence and I feel like that makes a difference. We only passed through Glenwood South so I could have missed them but zero police presence.

Bottom line is every municipality has trash. If you’re a decent area, or a nightlife/eatery scene like Glenwood South, you have to keep the trash where it belongs. You can’t just let it roll in and take over.

Who in the frick lets their 13-year-old kids roam around at 3 AM?

The mother usually has multiple kids for multiple fathers. The fathers are in prison or roaming around the streets at night while the girl is working the graveyard shift at BK / Circle K. The kids stay at the house with the grandmother who is asleep by 8 pm. The teens then have free reign to do what they want. They have no direction in life and do what their cretin fathers do on the streets at night. There is no hope for their culture and it is just going to get worse.

"People of Raleigh, and most importantly the parents of Raleigh who had kids out on the streets last night, we are better than this," Super Rad Retro Lounge wrote. "We cannot be another tale of a thriving city turning into a chaotic mess at night and reinforcing stereotypes of crime, violence, and downtown nightlife being dangerous in cities."

No, they're not better than that.

Yes. Yes you can.

Start holding parents accountable - threaten government aid removal, that’ll stop it

Overall, Raleigh is nice. Glenwood South was always younger and for a while, even pretty upscale. My wife used to work for a place that had their offices there. It was a great area with nice places until covid. After Covid most of the places turned over from upscale bars and restaurants to whoever they could get to occupy the places. Things went low-rent and became an area where it's mostly a black hangout at night. Naturally, along with with that, it became a higher crime area and the shootings followed. Sadly that area is likely in the downward spiral now because the crowds that don't regularly shoot each other will stay far away and the place will get worse and worse.

Agreed on every point you made and I saw this happen so sickeningly often when I taught high school. It's one of the many reasons I oppose reparations because what's broken cannot simply be fixed by throwing money at it.

did you hear about Newport Beach?

These "teens" have had absolutely no push back in their entire lives. Time for the adults to start delivering some consequences to them. Make them realize "reality" isn't always pain free.

What’s wild is that every other minority demographic has increased but they continue to embrace social and political positions that limit their economic and political clout soft on crime, single parent homes, and abortion.)

Why not have a master thread so everybody can consolidate their super original "I"m judging them by the content of their character" and "The fatigue is real" comments? Seems really repetitive.

I'm not even exactly sure what this basic cornball comment means. But I do know that all of these threads get repetitive and clog up this board.

Because the government has been so limited in what they can do, these assholes know nothing will happen to them. Shy of murder, they won’t spend any time in juvenile detention.
