While numbers look nice on a graphic, if you read the trades, those numbers are down 3 million per game when they were on TV.
The king of sports will always be broadcast free TV for audience size. These subscription only gimmicks are only going to divide the market into smaller and smaller pockets and when you have an expensive product with fewer and fewer people watching the more you have to charge for it. That is why our cable rates are so high, and subscription fees to streaming platforms continue to go up.

That philosophy worked out great for boxing.
I ain't paying for the NFL. I can pay someone to throw yellow flags as i drink beer and heckle for way cheaper

I know you know, but No it’s not.
Current legacy stars are assholes.
Future stars are largely not domestic.

The NBA is a sinking ship.
The only thing is that instead looking within and figuring out what did they do themselves to cause it, it will be racism that caused it. Can’t be the NBA. Must be racism

I think everyone is going to reach a point where it's like, if you don't happen to have a service or a friend/family member's login information, you're just not going to watch.
I happened to be at a family member's house who had Netflix. But I'm not buying Netflix to watch this when I watch basically nothing else on the platform. I've just about had enough.
To watch every NFL game, you need to have Netflix, Amazon Prime, ESPN, and ESPN+.
That's three "premium" services when it used to be all on Fox/CBS/NBC with one game a week on ESPN. That shouldn't be normal.
I agree 100%.
I'll just tune out.

Most people don’t care for what the NBA has become, and that has nothing to do with woke nonsense. Both college football and NBA games take way too long to finish, yet the NFL has managed to keep games within an appropriate timeframe. A college football game shouldn’t take 4 hours and a NBA game shouldn’t take 3 hours.

You can go watch more effort being given and competitiveness at any local, park or gym pick up game than you will during 80% of the NBA’s regular season.
i don’t disagree, the current product needs to be overhauled.
ball screen, 3pt attempt. minimal defense.

Seen some NBA only fans think that the NBA killed it while the NFL numbers mean nothing lol
depends on the context right?
if the NBA maintained their Christmas Day share of the market, with the NFL on Netflix. They should be thrilled. But the NFL and now the NFL feeder league (CFB) are waaaaay out in front as the most popular sport in the USA.

The NFL never recovered from Trump owning their woke asses.
The NFL is the only football I care about anymore and I voted for President Elect Trump. College football is a joke compared to several years ago, players getting paid is one thing but the transfer portal is a completely different monster.

well, to be fair. Alonzo hasn’t recovered from his TDS. That was at the heart of his worthless comment.

Check your credit card/cell phone benefits. Lots of free Netflix/peacock/etc with a Verizon phone plan. I think our Disney/espn plus is either free or significantly discounted with an American Express card. Already have amazon prime for the free shipping, so the stream is just a bonus. Overall, much cheaper than cable.

Both of these games were hot garbage too. Proof the NFL can roll anything out there on whatever platform and people will watch.

Highly skeptical that 1 in 5 people in the US watched regular season nfl games streamed on Netflix, but maybe some of this is international.
Googled how many Netflix subscribers there were in the US and Canada: 85 million.
There are 380 million people in the US and Canada. I am also skeptical that 1 in every 4.5 people (man, women, children, seniors, etc…) has a Netflix account.
There are 147 million households in the US and Canada, which means better than every other household supposedly has a Netflix account.

It’s more popular and valuable than ever. Their audience is exploding internationally, domestically it is not. I took my son to a Mavs game last week, it was sold out on a weeknight with no Luka or Kyrie playing.
American basketball lovers are bored by the strategy. They’ve taken an intensely physical game played at 3 levels on the floor and turned it into a 2 level game with rules designed to neuter the defense.

i hate the woke, but i love basketball. hard for me to pull against the NBA. I do agree the current product is quickly growing boring tho.
I think the gameplay and load management is the reason the NBA is getting negative publicity these days.
