Do you exercise?

Yes. I try to walk a minimum of 3 miles a day, I lift 3-4 times a week (not as heavy as I used to because of shoulder issues) for around 30 minutes which results in a good sweat and elevated heart rate.

I used to kick-box 3-4 days a week but now that I am on blood thinners for clotting issues I can't do that anymore.

Brain fog is real. Supplements are helpful, fish oil etc. nobody eats a perfect diet.

I'm younger than this but this happens to me all the time. It's common I think, called a "brain fart". There's a meme that when this happens, you're supposed to say "I can't remember the English word for it", then you sound less like an idiot.

I noticed I am no longer in peak mental condition around 50 but the only problems I have had are the result of my meds. Fentanyl 50mmg/hr fentanyl and 40%+ THC concentration makes me noticeably less sharp, slows me down.

Since my IQ is 3 standard deviations above average I still am smarter and sharper than 99% of the population though with plenty of room to deteriorate and still be sharp.

Leprosy. Humhh, Hansen's disease. No problem with my old memory. But being serious, my wife visits with a group of old friends once every few months. There is a woman now in her late 50s who was diagnosed with Alzheimers four years ago. Just plan on being good into your 70s. It can happen earlier but also much later..

When did you start worrying about your mental sharpness and memory.

I’m 55 and still sharp as a tack, with my wit, mental quickness, etc still all there. My wife is amazed that I can recognize someone from 35 years ago. I may not remember their name, but I can tell them exactly where I know them from.

The biggest change in my mental status since I turned 50 is anxiety and panic attacks.
It was like over night, I went from being able to do anything I want (roller coasters, etc), to needing to take a Xanax to go down into Carlsbad Caverns last week.
I’ve been to the hospital twice from panic attacks, thinking I was having a heart attack. One panic attack was triggered from a Disney+/National Geographic documentary.

I'm 40+ and have tons of moments when my memory goes.

It's in direct relation to the amount of beers consumed so it isn't alarming for me.

Embrace the snoring! Unless it’s a dangerous breathing/circulation issue just wear it like a badge of honor.

I’ve known since 1984 and my 1st live in gf that I snore like a Bugs Bunny character. Walls bow in and out, curtains flutter, windows rattle, the whole bit. I warn any overnight bedroom guests ahead of time but otherwise just laugh at those who cannot take it.

Your loved ones/friends will know. It's when you start to repeat things multiple times that people will understand something is wrong. I assume this is not happening to you. I'm in my later mid sixties and I sometimes don't remember old names and such. When my FIL was diagnosed with Alzheimers which happened at 90 for him, he just repeated the same things over and over. Loss of short term memory is a sign.
As a side note, think about how wondrous it is that something that happened to you sixty years ago is stored somewhere in that brain and you can go back and retrieve it. At least you know Armadillos could give you some kind of disease.

in my mid-teens

but seriously, my biggest personal concern is my poor sleep habits, I’m hearing more and more about how damaging lack of restful sleep is to the brain

I'm 50+, and have Alzheimers running in the family
Yet, I don't feel I'm losing any memory yet.
My mother is in her 90s and she is just now losing cognitive skills

Feel your pain.... Had to bail on a 10 hour flight recently. Wasn't willing to eat Xanax the whole trip. Wtf. This was never a thing.

I called my son this morning and was yelling at him that I can't find my damn phone... the phone that I was using to call him.

If I can't find the tv remote I look in the fridge. It's usually there. I don't know why
