There are infrared camera systems that detect MOB. I think Carnival uses one like this LINK This doesn't come into play in this and many scenarios because people actually saw the person jump over.

These ships are doing about 19-20 mph offshore and it does take a bit to stop. If a cruise ship tried to execute a williamson turn at full speed lets just say there would be a lot of broken dishes.
