Lucky, I’ve dealt with it too. I haven’t had it appear in about 13 years thankfully, but it’s painful and it sucks. God speed to you sir. Hope you get better soon

I've had it once. It lasted four months for me. My God, such an annoying experience. Like one poster said, it started in my tongue. My left eye is still a bit droopy.

Age doesn’t matter. I knew a 19 year old that had it.

Dated a girl in high school for awhile. Didn’t work out and not too long after we broke up she got it

Realized I was very lucky with the timing because I obviously wouldn’t have been able to break up with her after she was diagnosed with it

Do you have to where a patch over the open eye or something?

I had to use eye drops during the day and tape my eye shut at night for a little while. That shite got old.

I had it twice myself. Started with pain in the area below my ear. Went to sleep and woke up with my whole left side of my face frozen. Took about 2-3 weeks both times to start getting back control of my face.

My drivers license picture is there to remind me everyday of my last bout as I got my my license renewed 3 days after the fact. Looks like my left side of my face is melting.

Man, I'm glad you're able to keep your sense of humor about it. It's a shitty deal, largely because of the uncertainty. A week? A month? A year? Forever?

One of my sister's co-workers got a bad case of Bell's Palsey. He was Hollywood handsome and a very public figure at a major corporation. They put up with his problem for about a month and then gave him a "go away" package. It sucked for him. The guy loved his job and had been with the company for years, but could no longer effectively perform his job functions. The company gave him a generous compensation package and continued his health insurance, so he couldn't really bitch about the deal, but work was his thing.

I'd be happy as a clam to sit at home and do a Les Miles imitation, but it was hard on this guy.

Well, when you think about it, sure it's an inconvenience, but, man, there's little kids out there with cancer, veterans with lost limbs, millions of people with much worse and much more expensive ailments than this.

I can't smile, and I spill food on my shirt. Oh the horror. If this is the worst thing that happens to me, I'll consider it a draw, take the point, and move on.

You got one of those crooked eyes where people can't figure out which one to look at.

Jackass, don't rub it in. Not all of us are lucky enough enough to get it twice. #teamenvy

Good that you have the right attitude about it. I'd like to think I'd have the same when if/when some health adversity happens to me. After watching the Gleason doc I have had a better outlook on the relatively small disappointments in life.

I didn't even know what Bells was until this thread. Apparently its not that uncommon either.

I'll try not to laugh if I see half the sip of water you took spill out your mouth at mcdonalds

Life is suffering. I don’t care who you are, life hands you something that threatens to overwhelm you . It’s good to be young and bulletproof but the wisdom and personal growth that comes with this kind of setback is its own weird and seemingly unlikely reward . Sorry you have to go through this again . Try to stay in a place of gratitude about your blessings despite this . Pulling for you, man.

Had a bout of Belles Palsy when I came down with Gallien Barre Syndrome. It sucked. Weird feeling when half your face is numb.

Good luck, BP is no fun.

They give you any idea of what caused it?

Now I'm 11 days after it started and I can almost close my right eye by itself. Taste started coming back on Weds. My face is still a little crooked when I smile, but it's getting better.

I will say it got worse before it got better. Not being able to close your eye, eat, drink, or brush your teeth like normal sucks

I'm almost a week into my first fight with Bell's Palsy...
I feel your pain my man, this shite is scary.
And ditto on whoever named this shite. If you have it, you can't even tell people what the damn thing is called

Trying to stay positive though...
Ya know... Eye half open mentality
