Sounds like you may work for a shitty company and they have shitty insurance. I have a small company that has aged based ratings because of our size, and the closest we would come to that is if you and your wife were in your mid-60s and both kids were college aged. And that plan only has a $1,500 deductible. But even in this situation, the employee would only be on the hook for ~$800 a month as the employees have to pay 100% of the costs for their dependents.

Will just keep getting worse until we do away with private insurance companies.

is your employer paying anything?
you can get an obamacare plan without any credits for income for half of that with better deductible.
My new company's premiums are $215 a month for family 90/10 with a $1400 deductible that the company also matches in a HSA account
If it was just for me, it wouldn't be that bad, but when you add spouse and kids, it's brutal.

Mine is $3,720.00 a year for my son and I, medical and dental.
We did not have any increase this year
Thank Biden's butt buddy Obama for F'ing this up for all working people.
My niece (white trash) and her husband (white trash) have 4 kids and don't work, of course everything medical is 100% free to them

I'd agree if OP put this on the money board, but there are rules for the OT. OP violated one of them; therefore, it is now OT's responsibility to violate him

Meanwhile, many insurance companies were incredibly profitable due to people not going to the doc in 2020 (so insurance company had no claims to pay) yet continued to pay their premiums

Damn son....I'm on a HDHP and my deductible is 1/3rd of yours.
My plan costs about 10K/yr for me and my daughter....company pays half and I pay half plus I put about 3K/yr in HSA.

Your wife should work for your local school. Bus driver, lunchroom, etc. Problem solved.

Meanwhile there are commercials that say 4 out of 5 people can get healthcare for as little as $10 a month.

Go back 100 years, prior to the health insurance racket, when people were paying out of pocket for health care, and prices were reasonable. Why? Personal accountability.
If Dr. Smith overbilled you or his prices were too steep in general, people complained, word got around, and his clientele diminished because people went elsewhere.
Nobody cares if the insurance company is gouged. No accountability.

The problem we have is that if you have a few employees that have health issues, or their kids do, it all gets lumped in together since you are a group. If we could get rid of about 5 people we would have much cheaper insurance.
