you also were more likely to die from going to a Dr vs riding it out at home. Terrible analysis.

frick that. How about we lobby our senators and reps to get government the frick out of health care.
Because having your employer involved in it and actually choosing your plan seems to be working so damn well.

Because government got involved.
Everything government touches, is destroyed.

I’m paying $16.5k but the deductible is $600 per individual or 1,200 for the family. It’s crazy.

My new company's premiums are $215 a month for family 90/10 with a $1400 deductible that the company also matches in a HSA account

I don't understand dental insurance. With all other insurance rates out of control dental actually saves you money. What I pay for my family dental plan is cheaper than just getting everyone 2 cleanings/year with no insurance.

Quality of healthcare has little to do with having to pay for a doctor leasing his workspace from a hospital and billing hundreds for a single visit, then on top of that charging hundreds for a standard exam.
Terrible attempt to camouflage the scam.

$4800 annual premiums
$3000 family deductible
$1000 company in HSA
Think the MOOP was around $7500
Popped us for an extra $50/month because we we’re eligible to use a different plan from the other spouse’s employer and didn’t.
Dumb

If Dr. Smith overbilled you or his prices were too steep in general, people complained, word got around, and his clientele diminished because people went elsewhere.
Nobody cares if the insurance company is gouged. No accountability.
Nobody pays what is charged. Dr. Smith and Hospital X all have contracts with the insurance company. Hospital X could charge $500 for an aspirin and it would make no difference at all.

1000% the one I have just gives me a money cap and I never hit it with just the standard 4x maintenance a year.

Hinda high, our family plans top out at $7k/year with a $3k deductible.
I'm considering switching from the PPO to an traditional plan that costs $1,044/yr (individual employee only), $2,000 deductible, $4,500 Max out of pocket, and they put the first $500 in in the HSA. I'm considering maxing out the HSA since my 401k is already maxed out.
Is anyone else using an HSA? I have not used it before.

For context, a full time worker earning 10 bucks an hour, working 40 hours a week would earn gross wages of $19,200. (40 hrs x $10, x 4 weeks, x 12 months)
good luck finding ANYBODY worth a shite to work for that!

I doubt any local jobs are hiring at less than $15 an hour.

Insurance and healthcare is all a scam
And the biggest scam artist of all, Barak “Asswipe” Obama, for taxing individuals who would rather take the risk than get arse-raped. He will never be forgiven for that “tax.”

The problem we have is that if you have a few employees that have health issues, or their kids do, it all gets lumped in together since you are a group. If we could get rid of about 5 people we would have much cheaper insurance.
This. I am the Administrator for my company health plan. We went self insured to save cost. I see all of the loss runs and I can tell you that in most health plans there will be 10% of the census responsible for 90% of the cost.

I feel your pain OP. Ours just shot up as well. I ended up dropping the wife and three kids on mine ans letting her pick them up. Saved us $300/ month.
Plan would have been $1,550 / month plus $250/ month dental and vision. By making the changes we are still at $1200/ month. It’s crazy that my health insurance costs me more than my first house note…. The middle class is getting fricked hard.
