But there should be some parents who should be absolutely embarrassed as frick if their kid asked them to come to their post-college job interview.
Probably the only way they can get their kid to go to the job interview instead of free-loading

but If I'm throwing a dart, I imagine the bulk of "yes" they got on that question were people whose parents hung out in the lobby during the interview.
How would they even know that, especially to the tune of 19% of those surveyed?

I call bullshite on some of this.
It’s a lot cooler to say you can’t find good people as opposed to saying you can’t afford to hire people at all.

Can’t think of any scenario I’d attend a job interview for my child, while they were in HS/College/otherwise

Did they give them a ride maybe? or did they go into the interview and participate?
That is cringey tho.

How would they not? Interviewees aren’t exactly given free run of the building. Someone is going to come get them in the lobby/waiting area, and someone is going to walk them back. Randoms sitting in the lobby with no obvious business tend to be greeted and questioned.

Speaking of dressed inappropriately, at a previous employer we were conducting interviews for a secretary. This was a nice business office, business casual, but no jeans etc.
One person showed up in pajamas and slippers. I was like WTF.

We're so desperate, we will absolutely hire pathetic losers.

Yet another example of how parents have failed this generation of kids.

Was at one of my customers a few weeks ago and a lady come in for a job interview appointment. They ask her to have a seat in the lobby and proceeds to pull out a bag of chips and starts eating.

I still have a hard time believing the number is accurate. Unless they are polling companies that hire high schoolers
Even if they are in high school that's ridiculous

How big was the bag? Was there a vending machine in the room?

The parents raised them, so...

I've never been on unemployment before, but is there a requirement that you interview for X# of jobs to extend benefits? Because that's what that sounds like

My wife is a retail manager and she said girls come in with their momma and momma asks the status of the application. My wife says that’s an automatic no and says if your mommie had to come ask you are not mature enough to work for my wife! I agree wife is tough.

I once had an applicant bring her toddler with her. He had some sort of hernia or something. Sat in my lap the whole time. Cute kid. Probably in jail now.
