Bringing a parent along?
I blame the parent more than the applicant.

Did they give them a ride maybe?
Even this is unacceptable. At least try to show the slightest bit of independence and take an Uber or something.

sure you’re right, but even if it was only 1 per employer polled (~192 dipshits), what the frick? How does that even work? Is it like the Step Brothers scene, but with a parent??
Only thing I thought of was maybe a job fair type situation?

Who raised them? That’s where some of the blame goes too.
Blame has also been earned by the educational system who allow them to mumble answers, to print badly, to be unable to read script, to put aside their phones without suffering anxiety, and to reason out problems.
We have recently employed a recent high school graduate to weed and do outside chores. He really has not earned the minimum wage we have been paying him.

I once had an applicant bring her toddler with her. He had some sort of hernia or something. Sat in my lap the whole time. Cute kid. Probably in jail now.

Meh. I’m not sure having $40 to get to and from an interview is any flex.
As long as managed appropriately and transportation isn’t an expected issue I’m not mad about catching a ride.having an engaged family is helpful with being a reliable employee. Flat tire? Sick kid? No shame in mom helping to avoid a call out.
But that’s not coming in with them

Maybe the interview was for one of those Step-Mom videos I've heard things about.

Getting dropped off and picked up is one thing. Why the frick would you mommy or daddy need or want to wait in the reception area for you though IF YOU ARE A COLLEGE GRADUATE? It strains credulity.

I'd say you had your dad at your latest interview, but we all know you don't know who your dad is.

Believing whether that stat is true or not is its own little IQ test

Don’t know about the rest, but the eye contact one is very real.

I'd imagine if that were the case, then the interview never actually takes place. Or at the very least for discrimination purposes the parent is asked to wait in a lobby area or something.
What have these parents done to these kids to even want them present? I can't imagine my parents being in an interview with me. I'd frick up every answer far worse because of their presence.

I had this happen two weeks ago. Early 20's applicant, dad brought her to interview. But instead of staying in the car, he comes in and hangs out in the lobby (while she's interviewing in the back) spilling to staff about how immature and irresponsible his daughter is, but he's "proud of her anyway".
She was not offered the job.

“ unreasonable compensation”
I’d like to see this explained.
My guess is an employee asking their job to pay enough to cover a safe one bedroom apartment, a 6 year old car’s expenses, food, electricity, and internet is considered “unreasonable”.

Literally never heard of this happening

50% asked for unreasonable compensation
If 50% are unreasonable, is it really that unreasonable?

Would depend on the job and the costs associated with those. What’s the fascination with 1 bedroom apartments in “safe” areas being the minimum now? I had roommates into my later 20s. So did many/most of my friends. These were in areas that some might call “unsafe”, but it was 3 guys in a house…we were as dangerous if we wanted to be as the neighbors.
