BATON ROUGE - A teenager ran home after being shot by a mugger on the way to school Wednesday morning.

Baton Rouge Police are planning a news conference for 11:30 a.m. at Broadmoor High to address the shooting. Sources said the teen was walking to the school when an armed robber approached them.

At some point in the encounter, the high schooler was shot and had to run back home for help. Paramedics picked the teen up from a neighborhood off Sherwood Forest Boulevard and took the victim to a hospital. The victim is expected to survive. Officers said a suspect was taken into custody later Wednesday morning.

WBRZ

Yeah, that’s a pretty far walk from where the teen lived on Archery Dr to Broadmoor HS. Sounds like WBRZ got their facts wrong and the teen was shot walking towards a bus stop waiting for a bus to Broadmoor HS.

Marque Ann, Harco, and Cristy Dr are on the other side of Florida close to where this shooting happened. Those areas are all extremely dangerous

I’m just SO fricking tired of this shite. It’s every frocking day. I just can’t understand how a person they think they are achieving. These people are fricking animals that need to be caught and taken down quickly. When the justice system starts making an example of these punks it may deter some crime..

But I suspect it is not a random shooting. The kid probably had some sort of "beef" with another kid/group of kids, and this is the result.

Ding Ding, from what I heard of the press conference the robber was a Classmate that recently got expelled from the kids school

Not that it makes the city look any better but hopefully this was in some way a targeted shooting. If random kids are getting shot it's horrible

Sorry to say that the article says he was not targeted, but a random crime of opportunity.

My mom grew up on Archery. I remember being a nice area in the 90s but started going downhill quickly. My mom and her siblings tried for years to convince my grandmother to sell her house but she finally gave in immediately after Katrina.

Many believe the majority of these shootings are gang-related drug turf wars when the reality is many are simply retaliation for one loosely affiliated group/person disrespecting another person/loosely affiliated group on social media/youtube. The shooting in the middle of of the day on Bluebonnet Blvd. by the mall last April was retaliation for one "aspiring rapper" making a "dis" video/track about another rapper. That's it! That was the entire reason for a murder in the middle of the day on a main city highway.

You hate to paint with a broad brush, but in what other culture in the US besides among inner-city black youth culture is reasonable to murder/attempt to murder another person simply because they "disrespected" you? All of us were kids at one point. All of us got angry at other kids from time to time. Even as adults we get angry with other adults. But murdering that person in retaliation is not even in the realm of actual consideration. Sadly, it IS among young black men.

So we can expect him back home tonight after they let him out on a short bond.
