Not that it makes the city look any better but hopefully this was in some way a targeted shooting. If random kids are getting shot it's horrible

Sherwood anywhere is pretty ghetto right now.

Go to Sherwood and Coursey after dark and it looks like casting for the next Fast And Furious movie.

All the way to interstate will eventually be that way around that area
Only a matter of time especially when all the older people die off
Sad!

This is the 4th teen shooting story I have heard about within a week.

There were two around New Iberia I believe and one in Lafayette.

Very sad. But I suspect it is not a random shooting. The kid probably had some sort of "beef" with another kid/group of kids, and this is the result. Politicians can scream about being tough on crime all the want (and it certainly would help if they were). But the sad reality is that one culture that predominates Baton Rouge doesn't see it as completely outrageous to settle a disagreement/dispute by attempting to kill the person with whom you are angry. It is, sadly, accepted by many as a commonplace happenstance of life and a day where someone in the community isn't killed is a "good day" rather than something that should be the norm.

You don't see these types of things very often in more affluent neighborhoods not because wealthier people don't get angry with others. They have the capacity be furious just as anyone else. But because shooting someone is not considered a reasonable way to settle a dispute.

As the Boondocks would say, this is one of those moments which is the #3 killer of black men after FEMA and pork chops.

I truly miss the days when kids would just beat the shite out of each other at the playground after school if they had a problem to settle, then get up and dust off, then probably wind up becoming friends later. The playground was kinda like the kiddie version of Sonic.

From Archery? That's probably a 3 mile walk.

Was he shot with a bow considering the street name?

I didn’t think that area was that bad, but who knows.

The parents of a college friend of mine lived on Archery. I went there a couple times with him back in the late 80s and it seemed like a really nice area. What the f*ck happened?

That area has gone to shite outside of the massive Vietnamese and Hispanic community out there. They are the only hope.
