Anybody remember the girl that was like 12-13 and attending LSU in like 2000?

There was a 15-16 year old girl that lived in Laville when I was there in Fall 2000. She was very social. Even 18 year old me had enough sense to stay far away from that.

Does Southern actually reject any applicants?

I'll tell you soon, my 5 year old daughter is anxiously anticipating her acceptance letter for the fall semester. The admissions people told me her ability to write her own name and count to 100 really gives her a good shot to get in.

Serious - my advanced 8th grade students at the wealthy middle school where I teach would outperform almost all of my students at the local community college where I adjunct.

I don’t see this going well.

If the kid is a prodigy, why is he going to a fourth tier HBCU in a war zone? What accommodations or majors does Southern offer that any other school can’t meet or beat?

Edit - Because he is 11? Audit the courses at a real university, take online courses, or CLEP / AP your way to credits. Don’t freaking go to Southern.

Props to the little guy. Making it there at that age is impressive no matter what. He’s got a bright future

As academically corrupt as SU is how do we know any of this means anything.

It seems he was home schooled by his SU parents and given a school scholarship. How do we actually know how intelligent this lad is? The fact he is smarter than his peers who ever they may be since he was home schooled doesn't really mean much.

Could be massive PR and SU is the right place for the little scholar.

Why would a highly intelligent child attend SU?

Why would his parents allow that?

That is who I’m thinking of, I just remember her being younger but same range. What ever became of her at LSU I don’t recall her staying long.

If his parents are also SU grads then it makes sense. They may not have given him a choice.

Kid is going to have his bachelor's degree from Southern by the time he is 15, will likely go to another school and earn some more degrees and making 6 figures by 21.

Or he'll have a bachelor's at 15 and will be rejected from any prestigious graduate programs either because his degree will still have the SU on it or the fact that he's 15 and too immature for serious graduate work.

It's a lose-lose. He'll be a 15 y/o SU graduate with no education prospects and restricted by child labor laws.

Ali tells us, "He was always engaged, always teaching the class, which you know is surprising. He knew way more than a lot of students."

I remember the time when they put a 15 year old girl in the football team's dorm at UAB. Things ended badly.

This was one of the saddest stories I’ve ever read.

Anyone remember the name of the girl or whatever- I’d like to find the old article I read on this.

Honest question, how is going to an intensely sub par college at 11 better than just waiting a few more years and going to an elite school at say 16? That's not even a shot at just Southern. I'd wait to get that kid into Harvard or Standford or something over sending him to even LSU just because he's young.

yeah when i saw this story this morning i was like "wut?"

and yes, i even thought LSU would be a waste for a legit prodigy
