BATON ROUGE - An 11-year-old boy from Baton Rouge is being awarded a full scholarship at Southern University.

On Thursday, the university announced plans to sign Elijah Preccieley, a home-schooled resident of the capital city. Elijah has been taking classes at the university and has recently been selected for a full-ride scholarship. He will also be admitted into the Honors College.

His full-time student status commences in spring 2019.

He will officially sign with the school at a meeting of the Southern University Board of Supervisors Friday.

So he’s graduating in a year?
And what kind of shite is this “signing” stuff? You have to have a formal signing to attend a university? Or publicity stunt?

Don’t know too much about SU, but my buddy picked up a masters at Grambling a few years back and he said not only could many fellow students not read and write very well but that several of his teachers couldn’t either

This is a great achievement but shouldn't he aim higher?

Sure, he graduated at 15 but at 25 he will be a 25 year old with a degree from Southern.

What’s wrong with this?

Or are we making a joke that SU sucks so bad an 11 year old can get in?

Yeah I was kinda thinking he could mature a little while and get a free ride to a better school. But whatever.

Maybe it has to do with starting college by age 12 on a full scholarship

Kid is gonna be getting at least a bachelors degree before his friends even get drivers licenses
