Yeah we got a little freezing rain early then all sleet until the tail end where it sprayed more freezing rain. Lucky so far kind of like 2021. Nasty stuff looks like Sabine/desoto.

Wife sent me to the grocery store for some provisions. Stopped by the liquor store for 1.75 of Elijah Craig.
Every time I go to the store I pick up a little extra. Last trip to HEB I grabbed 4 bottles of wine and a 6-pack.
Chili is on the stove and I'm drinking a mimosa on the couch. Still hasn't started to sleet in Austin but a icy mist has been hanging around all afternoon. Hovering right around 30 degrees here.

I hate it for the ones that were expecting more snow. I guess more dry air than expected got into the system.

Don’t yall get 20-30 inches a year?
Once every 7-8 years. We got maybe 3 inches all last year. Normally 10-15 all winter.
But some years we get 10+ inch dumps

I'm glad to hear it. It's bitter cold here with 7" of snow so far and will be snowing all night here in flyover country.

Nothing but rain in ap. The problem is, this water isn’t going anywhere and temps will be below freezing for 12 hrs or more tomorrow night.
Monday will be a cluster.

It may be foolish but I'm starting to have a sliver of hope that Tennsippibama may just avoid the worst case scenario event that would result in widespread power outages. We may still have outages but I just don't see the doomsday projections panning out for us and I really, really hope I'm right

Hardly any in West Knoxville... a dusting has stuck on the trampoline but that's about it.

People always think this, but wind and traffic always takes care of the “problem”.
There won’t be any issues.
Maybe a puddle of ice somewhere .

It’s rained all day but very little ice accumulation
Kind of weird, started out strong this morning and then leveled out. The ice didn’t melt but it also didn’t build up any more

Checking in again from N Monroe! Power went out around 2. Ground was covered with sleet, then topped with ice. When I walk outside, all I can hear is trees snapping and falling down. Fortunately, we have no trees that can fall onto our house, but Lord knows when the power will be restored. We knew it would be bad, so we are very prepared. I’m afraid the same can’t be said for many people in the community. I’m from south La so I’m used to being without power for a while (thanks to hurricanes) but I think many people up here are truly clueless about how to survive on generators for days on end (and I’m being hopeful when I say “days”). I know families that currently have trees on their homes, and some that lost power this morning and don’t have fireplaces and/or generators.
It’s an icy, slippery mess outside and more is en route. Please say some prayers for all of us up north, especially those who didn’t have the means to properly prepare.

I think dry air is supposed to come through wit the front. A lot of it will evaporate. Or so we’ve been told.

Oh my brother. Prayers sent.

This is a lot more rain than was forecasted. I’m in 70808 but based on where my pond is at this is closer to 2” than the 1” that was forecasted.

I would need the smarter ppl to address this but I feel like the air in general in our area has been dryer than expected we have had a bunch evaporate before hitting the ground. The amount that has actually fallen has not reflected what the radar has shown for most of the day

In central Texas with the first home I've ever lived in with a fireplace I've learned that when buying wood for a winter event take the amount of wood you'll think you need and double it.
