I’m in north east Louisiana. What they’re reporting as “accumulation” and what I see all around me are two completely different things. When I step off the front porch, my foot disappears in ice well above my ankle. Maybe 1.5 inches above ankle. Local weatherman says our area got 1/3 of inch. LOL…wish that was true. Power went out around 11AM. Entergy reports that they’ve sent their teams home for the night due to falling trees. I bet they won’t have power restored until early next week sometime. Swear to god our infrastructure is one step above 3rd world up here. Had an electrical fire in the house at about 11 also. Upstairs HVAC burned up something and filled the upstairs with smoke. Thankfully nothing spread. Credit to the fire department. They managed to get here fast. I was still sweeping the house looking for the source when they arrived. Going to be a cold cold night, and probably few days. frick winter.

Damn dude. That sounds awful. Apparently Monroe took the worst of it.

It is an eerie sound hearing all the trees snap like toothpicks around the house. Sends shivers down your spine. Hope one of the pines close to the house doesn’t snap and fall. Won’t end well. It sounds a little like gunfire. Then thunderous crashes as the top half of the tree comes plummeting down. I estimate 20 around the back of house (woods) were snapping every minute earlier this afternoon. It’s slowed down some right now.

Carbon Monoxide, you won't even know your dead. If it's 30 outside and you have candles heating it up to 65, it's basically you running your car in the garage with the door closed.

Where can I get some of these amazing candles that put off that much heat… LOL. I’ll take my chances with the carbon monoxide.

Been holding steady at 36.5 degrees for awhile now.

I would suggest soybean wax candles. Burn super clean.

Some posters are complaining about dry air that’s limiting accumulation. Others, like yourself, are experiencing the opposite.
Depending where you are, a few miles can mean a significant difference. That’s not including those on the edge between snow or sleet, or worse… the border between sleet or freezing rain.

Belzoni Cable?
So far there’s not near enough ice on power lines and trees to bring them down. We will see what tonight brings but it’ll take quite a lot more ice to cause problems

Cigarettes produce WAY more Carbon Monoxide than candles and people smoked liked chimneys indoors for years.

Quite unnerving. Remember that from ice storm a few years back. I knew it was just a matter of time before the electricity went out. Luckily I have a wood burning stove in my bedroom.

Cumming Costco.
Danggit. I forgot Costco can only sell liquor in two stores here bc of some of our arcane laws. That one is far. I’m sure the slightly closer one has it too.
