THIS!!!!!

helping friends who are worse off than us has been a godsend and kept us from wallowing in our own pity.

it fricking sucks, there's really nothing we can do at this point, so just focus on helping those who have it worse and things will play out the way they are supposed to.

God bless the owners of this airbnb in Leiper's Fork. they have taken us and our surviving pets and on top of that gave us a major discount on the place. we're within walking distance of the breakfast joint and i have wifi so i can make a seriously major work deadline so the risk of me having a stroke or heart attack worrying about that are GREATLY diminished.

eta honestly this board is probably glad to be rid of my terrible posts for a week.

Man, this current system is just piling on for you folks dealing with this. The wind with it has been brutal. We just had a gust that had to be around 40mph. Steady wind now 25+ and over 20 all night. tBoat and others may not believe in wind chill, but the wind damn sure doesn't improve the situation. We got down to 17° just before sunrise this morning, which isn't unusual......but the wind....

I feel for all of you without power, and I pray you all stay warm.

1 hr 30 mins down the road it's been snowing since 8 AM or so, stopped a bit now it's picked up but it is not sticking to the roads here. Roads look wet so I guess the pavement temperature is higher than freezing.

Going to be some black ice tomorrow for sure though.

After 155 hours without power, the power is back on in my house. Very thankful. Looking forward to a hot shower and good night's rest.

Old news from earlier this week: Mississippi closed 100 miles of Interstates to clear the 18 wheelers that were stuck in ice storms.
LINK

quote:

On Wednesday evening, MIssissippi closed large portions of I-55 and I-22 to clear abandoned vehicles and treat roads, WLBT said. Hundreds of tractor-trailers had become stuck on interstates 22, 55 and 269 in northern Mississippi Tuesday evening after ice from the weekend storm refroze on the roads.

No mention of the condition of the roads in this weekends below freezing contiditions.

It’s pretty crazy that truckers get caught in crap like this with all the technology and communication equipment they have. It has to end up being very costly to both them and their employers.

Well shite.
I’m not even going to believe the snow stuff, but much more cold weather coming seems very likely.
