Tired of hearing from the media, wanted to know your draft grade?

Me , I give it a solid B+, maybe an A- when you throw in the Tyree Wilson trade. (I like the one year tryout for a 5th round pick)

I would have loved Downs with first pick, but I am happy we gave our....cough.... " young" quarterback some weapons and protection.

I am somewhere around here. I really like it, probably more than most

However, I could see this draft being a wild swing in a couple of years. They took some chances on talent vs production

A to A- Can’t recall that many drafts where it ended and I thought “dang we just got a lot better “. I feel that way after this one. Pass catchers galore. A run stuffing DT that starts and contributes day 1. A guard that may be somewhat of a project but with some fine tuning could be an absolute man eater. Swiss Army knife tight end with elite wr speed. I loved it. This team is much better from this draft

I think we really upgraded the offense, special teams, run defense. Got a culture/locker room leader in Miller.

And a lottery pick edge.

Main thing missing was maybe that nickle spot, but we’ll be fine there if Blackmon stays healthy

I’d say A-. I think two steals of the draft are Delp and Bryce Lance. Speed kills

I like this draft, but I feel like we have a secondary hole that didn’t get filled, so I have to to go with a very solid B, maybe B+. That grade shoots upward if Tyson is healthy the whole year because if he does, I see a ROTY contender.

I give it a C.

1. Pick #8 was on an very often injured WR. Downs would have been a very safe pick.
2. See #1 above. Pick 2 should have been a WR or S/CB if not picked at #8.
3. I love the Delp pick.
4. I'm not impressed with 3 WR picks. We are reaching and hoping to get lucky. If Tyson is the future, we can pick up cuts after the 53 man rosters are set that will be better than the 2 late WRs taken.
5. The trade with the Raiders is not going to produce a good DE.

Picking for need coming off 5 and 6 wins back to back is short sighted. You have to stack talent where you can.

Grade: B-

Tyson and Delp could be game changers, but we’re expecting very different outcomes in the NFL vs college: one to be consistently available, the other to actually be a productive part of the offense. Possible scenarios, sure. But both likely? Not so sure.

Would have preferred Downs in the Tyson spot or a trade down for Lemon/Conception/Cooper with more 3rd round firepower. In the Delp spot, the early impact second tier guards and nickels were all there.

Like the additions of Lance and Brown. We knew with a deep WR draft we were gonna have these opportunities, really like the athleticism and return game improvement.

Love Miller in the second. And swapping pick 150 for a one year Tyree rental is a decent upside bet too. We got better at stopping the run for sure.

Wright is a project. If he ends up with playing time this upcoming year, ehhh. Pass rush poor in college. He’s a draft lynchpin. If he ends up being a dude who can open up running lanes and hold his own in pass pro, oline is set.

Waited too long for a solid secondary guy. Our picks are likely practice squad or special teams. Maybe they are limited scheme guys. Don’t hate these pics per se but definitely deprioritized the glaring secondary need. Feels like we’re gonna be calling that out at some point this year. Mickey always give us a sign no-brainer omission.

Zero sniffs at LB, one group really lacking depth. Passed on some guys who slipped later than expected too.

Pass rush need, what pass rush need?

Maybe becoming more explosive offensively and improving in the defensive run game is good enough and this is a multi year rebuild. But after an offseason adding a bunch to the RB/WR/TE room, to add four more feels like “throw a lot at the wall and see what sticks”strategy, which meant less shots for other weak spots. If Tyson becomes a top 15 type WR and Delp a legitimate three down guy, you’re in B+/A- range and if Wright or Tyree click then it’s obviously A/A+. But today you’ve piled investment into offensive explosiveness with two key guys needing to transcend their college showing and you missed on some value in other places of need.

Not impressed with a sub 4.4 WR/returner who set ncaa records late in a draft? OK then.

B+

They filled a lot of needs and there were no major reaches.

I'm sure I'm looking at this through gold-tinged glasses, but I expect Tyson, Miller, Wright, Delp, and Lance to be starters on this team within the next 2-3 seasons. If that happens, A+ draft. If only three of those are starters, still an A+ draft.

I say the opposite. We needed a S, DE, LB, & G that were starters/good backups. I don't see a starter at that position.

They needed talent across the board. Would rather focus that talent around our young qb even at the expense of defense. And you’re also ignoring that they just addressed LB and DE with two veterans since Saturday.

You never know how most drafted players will turn out. Always risk they wont meet expectations, even with 1st rounders (Look at Tyree Wilson at the Raiders).

Solid A draft for me. Even the late round DBs their college highlights look very good. The late round WRs are speed demons, this team got a lot faster with them and the TE. Huge upside draft IMO. Some risk, but they drafted to win, not to be average, and I like that.

Solid B that can be an A if Tyson is healthy or a C if he continues to get injured.

We had no usual retarded Loomis trade ups or small school reaches this draft. So that was a big win.

I’m glad they had the foresight to try and get a replacement for JJ at te so we dint have to pay him a stupid salary next year. Hopefully Delp is the answer.

This trope is getting tiresome. Davenport in 2018, Olave/Penning in 2022. That's it, that's the list of "retarded trade ups" in the last decade. All other trade ups were in later rounds, where such things are common and low risk, and often worked out well for the Saints(Kool Aid most recently).
