Thought there would be more down votes. I wanted to go a different direction

Huge upgrade over Winston and Dalton, and I think he is talented enough to overcome bad play calling on gameday.

Carr is obviously an upgrade and will be the best QB we’ve had in several seasons since Brees decline.

As I’ve said from the beginning, it all depends on his contract and how much of the cap he’s eating every year. The Saints have more problems than a better, but still not too 5, QB will fix.

Winning a weak division sounds great. Being the 2022 Bucs that immediately get boatraced by a more complete team in the playoffs does not. I want the Saints to be GREAT and a true contender, not mediocre.

He’s a baller, we have a defense so we will be in playoff hunt

I think it’s a good move. An nfl team is hopeless without a QB and the saints now have one for 4 years. The division is too bad and our roster too good to realistically think the saints could tank to the top of the 2024 draft, so I like this option to solve the qb problem.

We need a little luck in the draft to make this signing matter, but if the saints can have a 2016/2017 type draft this year or next the team could be genuinely dangerous with Carr at the helm.

No our cap situation has led us to making football decisions

That's why we don't have Trey Hendrickson, Marcus Williams, CJGJ, and soon to be Marcus Davenport and possibly Michael Thomas. And Onyamata

Every single one of those guys can be replaced by Taysom now that he isn’t a primary QB.

I’m f he lights it up and we are back in the playoffs, awesome! If we suck we are picking high in the draft every year. I like the pickup since we didn’t have to give up anything to get him. We can still go out and draft his replacement if he doesn’t work out.

You either have a star QB or you don't. Middle of the pack and "good" isn't any better than terrible at the end of the day.

So we went from bad to kinda good.

So instead of 7-10, maybe 9-8. Allen is a fricking clown.

He is a upgrade from what we have currently. My only concern is who the hell we about to lose on defense with no cap space.

I guess this a good point the Raiders do have the 7th pick this year. As long as these morons don’t trade away future 1s to draft an oft injured DE from a G5 team or a WR it could be ok

He's our guy, so I'll root like hell for him and hope for the best.

But my gut tells me that with DA in charge the best Carr gets us is he turns 7 wins into 9 or 10, with early playoff exits and mediocre draft position.

But I was wrong about Stafford (I didn't think he was all that and was happy we didn't pursue him) so hopefully I'll be just as wrong about Carr.

Unenthusiastic.

Guy has been in the league with talent and never was a guy to take over a game and win it.

Top 12 guy at 38 a year is Tardlishious

*My fault someone told me $200 mill deal. So I said $50 a year

If we were in the AFC and playing against Mahomes, burrow, Lawrence, Allen, Hebert, tua, Jackson, etc I would agree.

But as it stands right now, someone from the nfc is going to the Super Bowl next year with a middle of the pack to “good” qb.

I think if Payton were still here a lot more people would like this move. I’m of the mind Allen is a mistake, but I say improve your qb position whenever you can and saints just did that.

I actually wanted Carr two years ago but paired with Payton. I’m with you that Allen is a mistake, but it’s so hard to find a decent qb and we just got a decent one for free.

So we don’t have to burn resources trying to find one. Just have to concentrate on filling holes on the roster with talent in the draft. That’s the optimistic view.

While I dont believe we will win super bowls with Carr, there are clear advantages.

We only won ONE with Brees, some of y'all set the bar to high. Tampa tried their damnedest and only one one in three years of Brady, green Bay only won one with Rogers and one with farve, Peyton only won one in Indy.

You can hope but we are not a quarterback or one player away
