Jim Everett 2.0

Not a bad QB will put up some numbers and maybe even make playoffs given crappy division

Prolonging the Allen years is bad he will keep us in the 7-10 win range which might win the division but we need a rebuild starting at HC and OC and a young QB.

Solid "B" grade acquisition. Let's see what he can do in a Division ripe for the picking.

Let's check in what Vegas thinks initially:

We get rid of old Andy dalton and get a guy who is basically prime Andy dalton…is that fair?

I think Carr can be good but don’t think we will ever go in a deep playoff run with him. I’d rather win some games and possibly make the playoffs then suck arse and bank on drafting a rookie QB and hope he pans out but that’s just being a fan playing the short game

Depends on the contract for me. If we are paying him around 25 million, I think it’s a solid B.

If it’s over 30 , then I’m not too happy about it.

I’m upset that we have to force ourselves to be happy about signing such a mediocre QB

He was the best of our options available, but I’m not excited about it one bit

Mixed.

While I dont believe we will win super bowls with Carr, there are clear advantages.
1. It makes us the favorite to win the South.
2. If we can just win the division, we are in the playoffs.
3. The move should put the MT question to bed one way or the other.
4. There are no QBs in this draft that will be elite IMO.

This.

I’m a vacuum he’s an upgrade at qb. Not a franchise changing upgrade. Problem is paying him a bunch of money with a shitty, unimaginative coaching staff is a recipe for disaster.

Still too much money for what he brings. He’s certainly better than a player like Gardner minshew but when you can pay a minshew for the whole season what it costs to pay Derek Carr for one game Carr’s skills don’t justify the salary. Andy Dalton didn’t work out and Carr is just a slightly younger Andy Dalton who wins a lot less.

Best QB the Saints have had in five years.

From Brees dead arm, to Winston not being smart enough to Dalton being just Okay I am excited to have Carr

I don’t know, man.

Without a qb, nothing else really matters. Unless you overpay when a realistic QB path forward exists, which isn’t the case here.

I’m having trouble seeing options for the Saints.

Up vote.
I consider him the best of the scant options available to us and a slight upgrade over what we had before.
