Honestly, I'm really not sure. I am happy we chose a path, going to camp with the same QB roster would have been depressing; just not sure if I think Carr is worth it. With a healthy MT and an available Kamara, he could be really good. Of course, both of those things happening seem like a pipe dream. I guess I'm happy because I do think it gives us probably the best chance next year to be a playoff team in a very winnable division; but for the future . . .

Best QB the Saints have had in five years. From Brees dead arm, to Winston not being smart enough to Dalton being just Okay I am excited to have Carr
Bwahahaha dumb

That’s the optimistic view
And without Carr, there is no optimistic view other than to tank, get the number pick, draft Caleb Williams, and have him be great. Also known as a Hail Mary.
The optimistic view requires Penning to step up and be a plus LT next year and for Olave to leap from good to elite. If that happens, the saints will be a team with a:
Decent qb
Two good tackles and an OL burrow would kill for.
A wr 1
Kamara
Three good CBs
A solid lb corps
6 picks in the first 5 rounds of the draft.
It’s not a terrible platform from which to have a quality 2-4 years of competitive football in New Orleans. Particularly in the weakest division in football.

Carr’s skills don’t justify the salary.
This right here
But, good on him for getting 100mm guaranteed...

We only won ONE with Brees, some of y'all set the bar to high.
Agree with this. Everyone is pointing to Stafford, but frankly I’d be thrilled for the Ryan Tannehill experience.
Detroit Stafford
74-90 record, 89.9 qb rating
Miami Tannehill
42-46 record, 87 qb rating
Oakland Carr
63-79 record, 91.8 qb rating
Tannehill has since gone 36-19 with a 100.5 qb rating in Tennessee and Stafford is 15-11 with a 97.7 qb rating with LA.
Tannehill hasn’t won a SB, but I would absolutely sign up for 3 playoff trips in the next 4 seasons, a trip to the conference championship, and a general feeling like New Orleans is a super bowl contender.

So far, about 200 people have voted and 83% approve of the move. I for one did not want to spend another season of watching a Trevor Simien / Andy Dalton lead offense. I have been on record as saying I don't really care about the money, as he was always going to come in between 35 mil and 40 mil. It is just the cost of a starting QB now.
If he performs like the pre2022 Carr, his contract is going to look like a steal.
