No team has fewer draft picks remaining this year than the New Orleans Saints

Some here would rather have multiple picks in rounds 5, 6, and 7 than have two picks in the 1st.
Ultimately it's about getting players. Number of picks doesn't matter and I'd rather have less picks but they be in the first three rounds than have a bunch of picks with the majority in the back half.

what a stupid statement.

That’s the price for continually trading up in the first round.

I'm ok with this.
Was held up last night but I wanted to add that we would likely waste later picks because we don't have a ton of roster spots.
It would be like that draft a few years ago with Boston Scott.

I love the picks we made, but we did hurt our flexibility. In the past 5 years, we got Adebo in the thrid, CGJ in the 4th, and Kamara and Hendrickson in the 3rd. However, we have also picked Ian Book in the 4th, Zack Baun and Adam Trautman in the 3rd, Tre'Quan Smith in the 3rd, Rick Leonard in the 4th and Alex Anzalone in the 3rd.
We are about 50/50 in the third and fourth round, so it does sting a bit giving those picks up.

We should be used to it by now... So we have given up 2023 first round pick • 2024 second round pick to Eagles.. Is this right?

But we didn’t give up picks in the 5th, 6th, and 7th last night. We gave up 3rd and 4th rounders. Look, I hope Olave turns out to be a stud and I’m not necessarily saying it was a “bad” deal - only that it was a lot to give up to move only 5 spots. Time will tell if it was worth it.

We’ve arguably drafted better in the 3rd than the 1st since 2017. (Maybe even in 2017 but positional value still probably supports our 1st rounders)

We covered our two biggest needs. Feel like we are in prime position to move back in the second and pick up another mid round pick but if their is an impact player you like at 49 then you got to make the pick.

Yep. It's been the Saints MO for years now and won't change until you have a new GM who brings a different strategy to the draft.

Well, some here thought Taysom Hill was the future starting QB for the Saints and thought he was going to tear the league up. So...

Some here also thought Trevor Semen was a better starting option and he went 0-4, while Taysom was 6-2 over the past 2 years.

We're probably the best team in the league at adding good UDFAs.
I think that's part of their strategy.
Lutz
Harris
Hill (another team's UDFA)
Calloway
Lil' Jordan
Tuttle
Gillikin
Granderson
Gray
Greenidge
Juwan Johnson
Roach
Throckmorton
Washginton
All decent to good players

Saints will trade more future assets to get an additional pick in round 3

I wish we still had a 3rd rounder, but otherwise I have no issue with this. Late round picks aren't as useful for a team with a decent roster.
Maybe they'll play the trade a 6th rounder next year for a 7th rounder this year game

Regardless I think everyone can agree that Taysom has grossly over achieved in the league as an UDFA.
