Why the hell would we want to bring back Teddy?

He actually fits the offense we run perfectly. Very accurate in short to mid range which is a staple of our offense.

Guess most of you forgot he went undefeated for us as a starter and had a 103 qb rating. I really wonder if some of you even watch football with comments like this…..

We could do alot worse then have him play for cheap as a stopgap and finally clear up our cap situation for the future while keeping all of our young talent on the team and adding to it.

Im not against Winston, but I like the idea of someone new.

Its kind of a conundrum because the Saints finally put together a good defense right in time for our offense to fall apart. Aka, do we want to risk drafting a QB at #18 who will take a couple years to get going or do we stick with what we have with Winston if he doesnt cost an arm and a leg. Lots of variables at play.

Signing Teddy and drafting a rookie probably is a solid path

What is the obsession with getting away from Jameis? We had no one at receiver last year, and he was still winning games.
I wouldn’t say we won BECAUSE of him

I’m not a TB hater, I just prefer Winston and Hill over him. But if we can’t resign Winston and Hill is still injured I’d take him.

3 years ago with a much different offense.

Teddy would be the last option if you can't get any other vet to come here.

Well, because you said:
quote:

he's not going to be cheap, or on a team friendly deal.

And we signed him on a cheap, team friendly deal.

ETA:

Expect top 15 QB pay, and long term.

Nope and nope.

Funny how when I said 15-20 Million a year, I got downvoted because of how insane that was, but now he's getting 28 Mill with 21 guaranteed its a cheap team friendly deal. Never change Saints Talk.

Ah, ok so either I am misreading his contract details or you are. When I see:

Saints re-signing QB Jameis Winston to 2-year, $28 million deal. (via
@TomPelissero
)

I'm interpreting as $14M per year which is a deal. You're interpreting as $28M per year, which is top 15 money.

21 over two years is 10.5 million a year. That’s his absolute base. If he hits incentives, it’ll jump to 14 a year. No way that is even close to top 15 qb money. Will he even make more than Taysom??
