I’d rather draft a rookie QB and be middle of the road than to overpay Teddy to be middle of the road.

Yep, and don't forget we have Ian Book.

Sorry...just couldn't resist.

Teddy is perhaps the best #2 qb in the league.
Pass as a starter.

Don't know if he might be part of the solution, but we have Blake Bortles under contract now as well!

None of the QBs in this draft, are long term fixes.

Not sure that matters. It might make sense to roll with a rookie QB for the duration of their rookie pay scale contract. Will be 2-3x cheaper than any vet we could get. Maybe that’s what we need until we can sort out the rest of the roster. Then go all in on a vet QB if the rookie doesn’t pan out.

Lol. Jameis couldn't get anyone to pay him money a couple years ago after throwing for 5k yards and 30 TDS. He sat for one year. Next year he plays and has pedestrian numbers and tears his knee. Da fuq you think this is. Top 15 QB money??

Such a stupid take. With all the teams desperate for a QB, it just takes one.

Would you mind laying out what you believe Winston’s years, guaranteed money, and AAV for his upcoming deal will be?

No shot

I don’t think there is a team in the league willing to do that.

Let me put the top 11-16 QBs according to Profootball and you decide.

11.Kirk Cousins
12. Derek Carr
13. Lamar Jackson
14. Ryan Tannehill
15. Matt Ryan
16. Garroppolo

And for some more info, 3 of these dudes are in the top 5 for 2021 salaries. Cousins, Ryan, and Garroppolo. So yeah, I expect Jameis to get top 15 money if he wants.

i think we still have a strong case we could make to Russell

1) He is not a free agent so we have to give up at least a #1 and a top tier player.

2) let’s not forget we can’t afford him.

Why didn't he get it last year? This is the dumbest board on TD.

You can guarantee that someone is going to throw this out there in every thread that has anything to do with the Saints and signing a player.

We’d be on a year to year basis with damn near every player on the team if the Saints board was in charge.

So you think Jameis is going to get 27+ mill a year??

In what world do you think that’s even remotely close to happening?

...and he's a declining player and not someone you should spend that kind of money and draft capital on.

And he should try to see if a team will pay that. What is considered top 15 money can vary depending on how you look at the contracts.

If you look at 2022 only, the 15th highest salary is Sam Darnold at $18.9M (assuming you drop Brady's contract since he's retiring).

But, if you look at the full contracts and take the average year, the 15th highest avg salary (after removing Brady) is Taysom at $10M

This isn't a good free agent class for QBs and Jameis is the best one available. The Saints no longer have the draw of Sean Payton, so they're going to need to pay any QB more money than they would like. On the plus side, he is coming off an injury and most teams will want to see more than his play previous to the injury before shelling out a big contract. All it takes is one team of course to do something dumb and hand him a lot of money, but I think odds are good he ends up in NOLA next year still.

Thems the breaks. If you want to win, you're going.tonnees to get a good QB regardless of what it costs you.

Problem is there are quite a few teams in the market for a QB right now. I agree that the Saints have to be the leader, especially w Carmicheal returning, but it just takes one team to throw a bunch of money at him
