Was watching Speak For Yourself on FS1 and the subject turned to the Steelers vs Bengals game. The analysts started admitting to having bounties back when they played and I couldn’t help but get furious thinking about how harsh Goodell came down on the Saints.

That's happened since the beginning. Goodell screwed us from winning multiple Super Bowls while we were in our prime. Screw that political hack bastard.

Have you ever seen the stickers on the back of a great defensive college player's helmet?

This - no doubt that losing Sean for a year and messing with our draft choices HURT bad. Chased Williams out of NOLA too.

Williams (with a strong suggestion from Payton) was leaving at the end of the year anyway. Going to St. Louis I think.

Singletary talked about it in depth in the 85 bears documentary. The league knows this and made an example of the Saints to create the impression that they care about player safety.

They were in the middle of the CTE lawsuits at the time.

This. Exceptionally bad timing for the Saints.

But still to Roger!

I remember listening to ESPN radio back in the day after a Ravens / Steelers game and whichever player was on was talking about a bounty they had on the RB of the Steelers. Bragging about it, etc on live radio.

What pissed me off most about this was that all of the SJW's out there who know nothing about football, were all crucifying the Saints. Irreparable damage was done to the Saints brand to non football fans by the league.

Plus all of the SJW Minnesota fans are still butt hurt about it.
My response is alwaye- where were the personal foul penalties then? The saints had very few those years

It was all a completely arbitrary and totally unfair punishment that cost the Saints another Superbowl appearance.

No other NFL franchise has EVER paid such a heavy price for doing so little wrong -- not in the history of the NFL.

This entire affair is a disgrace to the NFL.

I always felt like it was personal when it came to Goodell and coach Payton. Did Sean sleep with Roger’s wife or something ? Never made sense that a year long suspension would happen with any NFL organization.

Has to be more to the this story than roger or Sean is admitting to.

It was nothing personal at all. Saints were scapegoats while the league was being sued. And all the other owners were on board with it.

Wouldnt giving a player a bonus or extension for having X number of sacks per game/season/etc be the same thing?
