Not a surprise but Saints must address DT

quote:

Falcons have agreed to terms with DT David Onyemata, per
@MikeGarafolo

quote:

Expecting David Onyemata’s deal with the #Falcons to come in close to $12m per year.

quote:

Adam Schefter - Falcons are giving DT David Onyemata a three-year, $35 million deal that includes $24.5 fully guaranteed

The good news is we have a great track record of drafting some good D-Linemen recently

If we can’t sign a decent veteran DT, we HAVE to address it at pick 29 or 40.

I'm ok with the Saints not paying 12M/yr. Better to let go a year or two early. He wasn't the same player after he got popped for PEDs.

But I read here our cap situation has never cost us keeping a player we wanted.

It really is.

They are going to actually have to go out and sign at least 2 solod players in free agency.

There was no way they could pay onyemata 3 for 35 with 24 guaranteed. He basically got a better contract than the saints gave him 3 years ago when he was better and younger.

I wanted to re-sign him, but not for that much. I still think he has a lot left to offer.

They have plenty of work to do. It's getting scary.

I’m sure the saints wanted onyemata, but not at 12 million per.

Regardless, good for him for getting paid. Always did his job, and was never a problem.

you assume we didn't want him. look I'm all for re-signing the guy for the right price, but re-signing a guy for way more than he should, is just stupid - we have ween it before.

hell if a division team wants to potentially overpay for a guy, that just limits them which in regards to us is a win.
