Both diss Derek Carr and Solak talks about all the talent we've shed on defense the last 3 off-seasons. He compliments Dennis Allen as a very good DC but they both comment that his HC record is very bad.

They scoff at @cantguardmike ("pfft.. goof luck with that!")

Which of these statements are patently incorrect?

Edit to add: Which of these statements are not posted multiple times a day on this board?

Can't really argue with that

Or this.

Or this

and they agree that the Falcons are where the smart money is at.
Hold on now

Anyone is right to question Carr and DA with their tract record. We will see about atl's running game in preseason. If its not top ten in the nfl this year they will have a long long season.

As to us I think it comes down to how good the new D-line is at stopping the run and just being healthy (MT included). If we are good in these two areas I believe we will be better than even the optomistic Saints fan thinks.

I don't think that's a crazy take at all.

You have a bottom 5 head coach and OC.

A mid-level QB.

A star RB that will likely miss a chunk of the year.

A star WR that hasn't played a full season in three years.

A rookie LT that has had two surgeries in one year.

Your best defenders are old as shite. Your other best one is a moron (Lattimore) and hurt frequently.

You have two backups starting at DT.

What's to love about this team?

This guy should be doing my taxes, not predicting how many wins the saints get

If Saints D takes step back, I would be suprise. DA knows defense that's only think DA knows.

All very great, legit questions, but I think Pete gets too much of the blame for the offense when we had Dalton leading it. He was hamstrung.

Not saying Pete did a great job, and I have criticized him about things last year, but the QB he had to work with was a huge factor in what could realistically be done.

As long as DA and Pete are running the show, this is the safe bet

Solak is the biggest nerd in sports media.

He creamed himself when the falcons drafted Bijan Robinson.

What hype? No one outside of New Orleans has them doing anything.

Mike Lombardi, all of the PFF baws and the Ringer NFL guys were all in on the Saints over 9.5 wins when the schedule first came out. The great Bill Simmons is the first talking head I’ve heard who says otherwise

This is true but he is a great NFL podcaster and definitely knows his stats.

This is also true. He and the rest of the NFL just "blah-blah" the Falcons QB situation as if it doesn't matter because of Bijan, Pitts, and London. Gonna be a rude awakening if Ridder doesn't turn into a star. Not impressed with Falcons D either.

The saints' fanbase must be huge for Vegas to set odds favoring the saints

Lombardi has cooled since then. He and the entire V-Sin team are backing his evolving thoughts for Carolina to win the division. His son coaches for Carolina. I think he's being biased but just my opinion.

I like Solak. But his cognitive dissonance and infatuation regarding the falcons is ridiculous.

He usually leads the charge on never investing in RBs…but he thinks the falcons offense will be fun to watch. Same thing for TEs, but Pitts will be fun so who cares?

And his analysis on their defense is just flat wrong. David Onyematta ain’t fixing shite. And neither are the rest of the overpriced FAs they signed.

Pete is just very vanilla. They should've brought a young guy in to help with ideas. You bring in a young guy to mesh with pete/payton saints playbook

The Saints have by far gotten the least amount of discussion time as far as the NFC South goes on shows he does.

He did mention he liked the draft they had but no real follow up there.

Wrong. He was hamstrung by the players running the offense

He’s not going anywhere and we’ll be a top 10 offense again this year
