Bill Simmons and Ben Solak are not buying the Saints hype

They are incredulous that the Saints have the same +135 odds to win the NFC South that the Bills have to win the AFC East.
Both diss Derek Carr and Solak talks about all the talent we've shed on defense the last 3 off-seasons. He compliments Dennis Allen as a very good DC but they both comment that his HC record is very bad.
They scoff at @cantguardmike ("pfft.. goof luck with that!") and they agree that the Falcons are where the smart money is at. That ATL's RB heavy scheme is a smart "zig" while most every other team is "zagging" and that it will translate very well record wise. Nobody will like playing Atlanta, they hypothesize.
Listen here mates - and leave your replies below
FWIW - I pick the Saints to win the NFC South and at least one playoff game

Any fan who is being truly honest about this year would say they are optimistic but have no clue what the hell will happen this season. Everyone is doing and saying the right things. I have no idea if that means we are going to any good or not.

I mean... who is better in the south?
Posted on 6/20/23 at 10:56 pm to SirWinston
I would feel a hell of a lot better if we hired an offensive coordinator

They have the same odds because the afc east is a gauntlet while the nfc south is best of the shitty.
If it was sb odds, that's saying something. But it's just winning a division.

It's the NFL, who knows. Carr could come out and be a top 10 QB, he could also come out and throw 20 picks. Are we going to have a pass rush? Is this the year Cam Jordan is done? Is Michael Thomas going to be actually healthy? How many games will Kamara be suspended for and is the 3rd Round RB we drafted as good as we think he is? Is Pete Carmichael going to do a much better job this season? Personally I think we can win 10-11 games, but I wouldn't be shocked if we win 6.

That’s because they aren’t Saints homers and can see with honest eyes what this team was last year and who Carr has been. Doesn’t mean they are right, but their assessment is fair.

Yeah, that's always been a safe bet..

So if we have a winning record, I'll be pleasantly surprised. I've been a fan since before the rebirth..I remember how to stifle my hopes and set the bar low.

Carolina is a the best bet imo. For +370 you get the best QB in the division (might be immediately, but will be the best by year 2 guaranteed)
They should have won the division last year, but Darnold and Baker were aids.
They have a lot of overall talent on the roster. If Bryce is anything close to being ready year 1, they will flirt with 10 wins.

If the Saints do anything historically well, it is welcoming new starters and backups to the field of play allowing close to career performances.
It would not even be a slight surprise if Young throws for 400 + yards on Monday night football against the Saints and blows the Saints off the field.

Maybe i wasn’t paying close enough attention but Ridder didn’t really show me much at the end of last year. Ridder needs to take a huge step forward for Atlanta to be decent

Many of you seem to be forgetting that Lattimore was out half the season

He called it last season that we would suck and that DA is a terrible head coach.

I mean if we're talking just betting futures, ATL is a better bet than Nola. I didn't listen, but was that the focus?

Bill Simmons is a fricking arse clown. He must have gotten raped in New Orleans. He hates everything thing New Orleans sports related.

Atlanta could be the better play if they had an NFL QB. We have proven over the last two seasons that it doesn't matter what you have on your team if you are trotting out a replacement level QB every week.

What hype? No one outside of New Orleans has them doing anything.
