I like our roster but I don't think our coach gets it done

I listened to this pod an hour ago actually.
Solak lost all credibility with me over his Desmond Ritter rant… bill was right with what he said

They are incredulous that the Saints have the same +135 odds to win the NFC South that the Bills have to win the AFC East.
One has their odds because of how good their team is perceived to be.
The other has their odds because of how absolutely horrible the rest of their division is.
How "professionals" can't understand this, is wild.

What hype?
I’m serious, we have a lot of new pieces with a shitty HC. Was there ever hype?

My problem with Carmichael was centered more around his personnel decisions inside the 20. Taysom and Kamara are two elite touchdown scorers when healthy and for there to be any snaps inside the 20 with neither one of them on the field is a crime in my opinion and Pete did that a lot last year.

I'm surprised Pete is back TBH. But Allen has hitched his wagon to him so we will see.

All very great, legit questions, but I think Pete gets too much of the blame for the offense when we had Dalton leading it. He was hamstrung. Not saying Pete did a great job, and I have criticized him about things last year, but the QB he had to work with was a huge factor in what could realistically be done.
Omfg what a terrible take. Andy Dalton was the lone bright spot on offense last year aside from Olave. They both had some mistakes, but were solid throughout the year. Had Jamies been starting all year, then I could see your point. Carr is not that much of an upgrade from Dalton at this point in their careers, but I’m praying he has a career resurgence with us.
I don’t understand how Pete Carmichael didn’t pick up at least some of Payton’s mojo being his understudy for 2 decades.

Saints are in as good a position of any of the teams in the NFC South. Panthers, Falcons and Bucs either don’t have a QB or have an unproven rookie. Carr is the best QB in the NFC South. The Saints roster is as talented as any in the division and Dennis Allen while maybe not better is definitely no worse than any HC in the division. They could easily have a losing season, but as it stands now, because of Carr they are the favorites.

yeah. They hype has been over the top. F Simmons and his East Coast, jerk off bias. For the first time in 25+ years, the AFC East doesn't completely suck arse. Congrats!

Nothing they said is wrong. And Carr is not a good QB. I have bad news for you.

Yeah I really like Solak. He's the first legitimately great "current events" NFL Podcaster we've ever had. He's so much better than Bill Barnwell or any of the legacy media who tried podcasting (Michael Silver, Mike Florio, Pete Prisco, etc).
I'd rank it:
Solak
Lombardi (when he's talking football)
Simmons (when he's talking football)
PFF guys (Irish dude and big dude)

The saints' fanbase must be huge for Vegas to set odds favoring the saints
Louisiana has legal sports betting including Mobile app betting, which even a lot of legal betting states don't have. That means the fan base has much easier access to place bets on the Saints, LSU, Pelicans, etc. You often see these teams getting worse odds compared to teams in starts without this easy access to placing bets.

IMO, it comes down to 2 major variables:
-Injuries
-Play-calling.
We have RIDICULOUS talent on offense (if we remain healthy) - not just skill players but the O-line as well.
To me it all comes down to how we USE that skill talent: Thomas, Olave, Shaheed and Perry; Hill, Johnson and Moreau; Kamara, Williams and Miller. Hill as a decoy.
The defense can potentially be better than last year, esp. the secondary.
If we have a time-consuming offense, it will keep the defense fresh.
12-5 and NFC South Champs for me....

Id happily swap Allen for Arthur Smith YESTERDAY.
Has the aggression and courage to push the envelope.
I think Saints are rightly so the favorites for the division this year. I think they'd be bigger favorites and more legitimate contenders with a coach with balls, who proactively manages the game rather than sitting back afraid to take risks like a deer in the headlights.

I get wanting a less conservative approach...but what exactly has Arthur Smith done to be proven as a viable replacement?
He cant even beat the guy you are trying to replace

Well he's factoring in the potential payout as well. I agree with him that Falcons at + whatever is a smarter play than Saints at -170 or so
