Barion returning kicks

Are we dead set on him? Looked awfully skittish to me Sunday? Scared me with the ball too. Hopefully Sunday he finds a hole and gets some confidence.

He looked really small and slow. Out of all the LSU guys and especially WR's to draft since Devery, we picked the guy that played mostly for Kentucky and was a complete non factor at LSU.
He's basically playing Team Mascot role on the Saints currently.

Just my guess, but I think the moronic NFL kickoff formation is why he looks so awkward.
The traditional kickoffs in college where you can find run lanes vs the nfl having guys standing still at the 35 yard line almost takes a totally different skillset.

I thought he had some potential as a PR/KR before the draft, but he’s done nothing in preseason or week 1 to show he can fill that role.
That being said, I think he’s a really good slot receiver and did really well getting YAC in the presseason. I’d like for us to get him 2 or 3 touches a game that aren’t a reverse.

he looked like a practice squad player. He was noticeably bad.

This.
He was a really good returner in college for 4 years. You don't suddenly lose all of the speed and vision by going to the NFL. It's more likely he's still having to adjust to completely different formation than he's ever experienced in his career (even before college). I'm willing to give him a few more NFL games beyond his lengthy career total of 1 before labeling him a "bust"

It's what Bobby Hebert calls "All Airline Drive". Good in practice, not so in games.

No one said anything about cutting him but the fact is, he looked terrible returning kicks. The lions guy had no issues with the kickoff rules. He looked great. Brown ran straight into the defender. He went to lsu so surely he can't be bad

Running backs are better suited for kick returns in the NFL now.
Brown will be fine for punt returns.

With that being said, Shaheed is a great return man, looked like a deer in headlights, and was scared to return anything even with 20 yards of space. Hopefully its just opening season struggles

I watched brown at lsu last yr and so far this yr with the saints. To me he is weak and doesn't have the moves to be a great punter returner.
He was good at taking kicks back in college with much more space.
Returning is why he made the team. Maybe he will get up to speed. That's another reason Shaheed was so valuable.

A lot of those kicks the hang time was pretty long. By the time he turned to run there 2-3 guys waiting. He did screw up a couple times by not letting the ball hit the endzone.
