just want the organization to somehow show their thanks/appreciation to him for being the face of this whole fiasco. he's stood up strong to the media and lead this team well.

He’s getting paid good money to deal with. The season was over before this mess started because Gentry is a shite coach.

Gentry will be given respect by the organization by getting paid a bunch of money when he gets fired.

You have to make him somehow want to be “done” with coaching at his age and take a consultant/analyst role that pays well. He would be a key figure in the organization and someone you can have in the room to woo perspective free agents and another mind to ping ideas off of when looking at prospects.

He gets away from the daily grind and travel but still has his voice heard when it’s asked of him.

Demps made some bad moves but was snake bitten with injuries/owner issues.

That's no doubt true, but he had to go. I sort of feel badly for him, in a way.

I'm like 99% sure it was said by numerous people they were willing to go into the tax to keep Boogie if it meant we were putting out a legit team.

Ugh, then why does he play for the Warriors and why did AD hire Klutch before the season even started.

I don't think you have to make him want it. I think the new GM can come in and say "Alvin, I'm gonna go with my guy, but ownership wants to honor your contract with a front office position"

I'd bet he takes that all day considering it beats going back to someones bench.

Kind of my thought too. He's been a coach for a loooong time. And if it were me, I'd only be a HC for an exciting young team or a big market but after that. I'm not sitting on the bench and not be a HC. Either that or give me something where I'm out of the spotlight.

was Gentry Demps’ hire or ownership ? Never understood hitching our wagon to him at that point. We seemed to have gotten swept up in warriors fever believing he was an integral part to that initial run when the reality was he was the same retread his already lengthy coaching career proved he was

ESPN titled it as he was fired because of "AD fallout".

All indications I'm aware of are that is true. Let's see what she and her advisers can do with a fresh start.

There is at least a little room for optimism.

It is, just not for rejecting the Lakers trade like stupid people want to believe. Demps was dead man walking the second AD said he wanted out.

I'm by no means a basketball junkie and casually pull for the Pelicans, but it's so obvious to me as an out-of-touch observer that the Pels need to go get an analytics guy, not another good ole boy who happened to play in the league and bounced around front offices in his career. But I'm glad Demps fricked the Lakers.

Exactly. The players in GS st made him. For me it is no so much his system, but his attitude. He’s too apathetic & it rubs off on the players.

It seems that by all accounts, including Dell's own behavior prior to the Benson's taking control, that the roster building strategy was rather aligned. That if given an alternative mandate Dell would of acquiesced, but that he too believed in his vision for an accelerated strategy around forgoing draft picks for late first contract and second contract players. Even so, from within those constraints Demps execution of that strategy was lacking. On his own terms there was a lot not to like. Him finding midseason trades was typically, if not always, in response to roster building failures that prompted an immediate need. Often resulting in acquisitions that were not well positioned to be long-term assets. Which clearly has had knock down effects on building team synergy and cohesion year to year.

I think Dell’s propensity for “young veterans” was a good strategy in building/growing a team around AD. I think mandates from ownership made him reach at times (Evans) as well as being in a small market. I don’t think you can reference before the Benson’s with the limbo the team was in.

Holiday, Cousins, Mirotic? The 1st 2 were simply good decisions and certainly positioned to be long term assets. The 3rd was in response to injury but I believe Dell would’ve made that trade anyway. Getting Asik at the time was good then league changed.

Is it unrealistic to think we have a 20% shot at Zion? Our own chance as of now and New York’s?

It's not about money considering every side has said we offered him $20m. I know you are trolling, but do better.
