Because no other team could pay him over $10 mil per year, so we're doing what Griff always does and bidding against ourselves.

I don't mind having Hart back, I just want to see the details of the deal. If it's all guaranteed, Griff screwed up yet again.

Hopefully they are just gonna use his salary at the trade deadline with Sato and our TPE(if that's possible).

I love Hart he’s my favorite Pel but even I think $12.67 mil per year is a little steep for him. I figured it would be about $9 million per year but whatever I’m happy he’s back. His energy is infectious.

no I don't.

unless he improves from deep I have a better shooter on the floor if I'm trailing and times running out.

Y’all are complaining over 3 mil per year. It’s not your money. It’s not going to frick us long term. Go look at other players making that much. fricking Kelly Olynyk. Y’all need to calm down.

If this is happening then I want Hart in there with Vinson NOW

He mentioned last season that he realized his shot was broke but because of short off-season and Vinson spending all of his time teaching Lonzo to stop shooting like a 6th grader, he basically bailed on the form-fix and went back to his old ways in an effort to be consistent

Bit of an overpay

It is thebperfect tradeable contract. You need those middle of the road contracts to pull off deals. Teams stocked with rookie deals, mins, and max deals make it hard to make moves via trade.

That's why it was so hard for Boston to make moves because Smart was the only guy in that type of pay scale.

I'm sure that it's structured that way. I'll be stunned if it's not something like:

- $5 million of the deal is incentives that he's unlikely to reach

- The third year is not guaranteed or is a team option

- The contract is declining, so he gets a guaranteed $13 million this season, with $11 million next season and $9 million the third year.

Griffin would want his salary higher this season to match more salary in a trade this spring. A declining contract that has a team option in the third year would be extremely tradeable.

Hart used the unfollowing of Pels on Instagram/Twitter as leverage

The minute distribution just got a lot more complicated

I don’t really think it does. I don’t think Herb and Didi get much of any regular season time this year. I would think the plan is they take Harts minutes by the time this deal is up.

Hart was a 3yr, 30 mil max guy imo but glad to have him back.

Now let’s carve out some time for him to have with Vinson. If he could improve his shot a bit he would be tough to defend.

signing hart to trade for buddy hield

This and the overpay makes sense in two respects.

The 1st one is obvious, to get closer to matching salaries without having to give up Didi bc u cant trade Garrett before a certain date and Gabriel isnt enough and not a guaranteed contract which Sac would probably want included to save money and cut him. But, maybe thats why they bizzarely signed Daulton Holmes to a 2way contract over Moses Wright bc Holmes will be included in that deal. I think 2 way contracts dont have trade restrictions on new contracts like the regular contracts. So now when u sign and trade Hart, Gabriel and Holmes and probably 1 or 2 2nd round picks for Buddy it allows the Pels to not give up a Herb Jones or Didi to match salaries.

Secondly, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, the overpay to Hart is for him to agree to the sign and trade... Remember, he is restricted, but not contractually obligated/mandated, yet, to be included in any trade for whomever the Pels want. Think Bogdanovic last summer where he didnt agree to be traded to Milwaukee and nixed that deal bc Atlanta came in with a significantly better offer at the last minute.

So, for Hart to agree to go to Sacramento and we get Buddy or whomever we have targeted, we gave Hart 2-4 million above his fair market value for his troubles to go play for a currently projected, non-playoff contention team/perennial shitshow organization in Sacramento bc without Hart agreeing to be included as part of a sign and trade, if the Pels wanted Buddy that bad, Sacramento wants a 1st and Im sure the Pels in trying to hardball Sac, knowing they likely wont keep Buddy regardless bc of chemistry issues, drafting of Davion Mitchell and the need to re-allocate financial resources to another position say SF behind Barnes, the Pels likely caught news that Charlotte, Lakers, Knicks, or somebody is imminently about to pull the trigger and give Sac what they want--a coveted 1st and the threat became critical bc said 1st would now likely come from a team that Sac believes wont be in the late 20's like the Lakers.

Im fairly certain that tomm you will find out Buddy or possibly someone of that caliber has been traded to the Pels and Hart is included as a sign and trade.

I cant see the Pels keeping Hart when he publicly said he wanted out, Griff/Langdon harping all summer about targeting players who want to play for the city, and Hart likely being overlooked for a starting role still for NAW, coupled with the newfound competition at the 3 and him not being a PG to beat out Kira/Sato nor a true shooter to stave off Naji. Truth of the matter is Hart doesnt really fit on this team anymore nor is needed where he was of value to us-- Defense and rebounding. With Naji, Trey, Herb and Didi, to a lesser extent, all looking GREAT in summer league, Hart's minutes would get reduced, at the very least, and thats with him playing consistently well. At worst, he could find himself disgruntled with a string of DNP's bc he struggling and playing on a 1 yr deal looking for his next contract, next year.

You'll have a new Pelican face tomm folks but I would be suprised if its Hart coming back into the fold.

Anyone who has watched Didi play knows he is not an NBA player. He should spend the year in the G League.

How do you know that wasnt after everything pretty much dried up.

Griff probably then told him we have this extra money let's do something.

This wasn't the first option for team or player.

There is no evidence to support that.

So until you provide it, all you are doing is fabricating narratives that confirm the biases you want to be true.

Too much of that shite around here and I’m not interested in playing that stupid game.

What we know is Hart was excited today, has been nothing but a good person since coming here, came to watch the team, work out with our players. Zero evidence he is some secretly disappointed or reluctant participant in these activities.

Im of the belief that Herb Jones has already passed Didi in the minds of Griff and Langdon.

People assume Herb will be in Birmingham to start the year. Im not so sure. Jones is a baller period. Can damn near run the point to being able to be inserted as a small ball 5. Dude is a swiss army knife and a jumpshot away from making the Pels bonafide contenders with Trey also being a revelation, so to speak.

Depending on who they bring in from the Hart sign and trade, I think not only is Herb on the Day 1 roster, but he is part of the top 12, active and gets minutes early in the season before Willie tightens his rotation. Only then will Herb get some assignment work in the G League to prevent rust

Didi is the one that is likely going to Birmingham for an extended period of time. Preseason will ultimately determine this battle, but based on what I seen in SL and what Jones brings to the table, Im 90% certain Jones beats out Didi and its not close. shite Alvarez damn near could beat out Didi if all things were equal, contractually. And thats not a knock on Didi, it speaks to the talent on this team finally. Didi noticeably lost some speed and burst from the weight gain, which affected his calling card to this team, DEFENSE and that jumper is not yet reliable.

Hart's at Summer League to get the BAG. Plus with Van Gundy gone, he probably has no more hard feelings unless Griff was the basis for his negative comments after the season... shite, I'd go watch my old team too, gladly I might add, if they did me a solid and threw me an extra 3-5 mil to go play elsewhere with clear cut need for me and playing time, as opposed to signing my 5 mil. Qualifying Offer for 1yr. and then having to fight off the newfound depth on this team, nevermind getting passed over AGAIN to start finally at my natural SG position, while trying to showcase for my next contract.
