Maybe an overpay but he's still a positive asset with that contract. Looks like we are setting up/ collecting contracts for future trade flexibility.

We have Didi, Marshall, NAW, Kira, Murphy, and Herb for very cheap. That doesn't include Graham's great deal, Sato's expiring, and Hart's contract.

Feels like we have built up a lot of young talent to pick for fit and also send off in future deals. Reminds me of the Nets team a few years ago except if they already had 2 all star level players and didn't have to trade away 70% of those young assets.

Kira's game last night was probably the reason Griffin throwing a wheelbarrow of cash at Hart today

Once again this is what happens when Pels Talk runs with baseless speculation and then contorts it into “fact.”

This was never a thing.

Hart was at Summer League watching our team and training with BI and others.

That’s not the behavior of someone trying to get out of New Orleans.

this makes no sense. They’re completely different styles of players and positions

Well, with Hart in the rotation, that could move Sato to playing more back up PG. So in a sense, it might actually take minutes away from Kira.

I think there was at least something to it. He said on his own podcast a month or so ago that he might like a change of scenery. And we know he’s tight with JJ and that situation didn’t sit well with him. His exit interview also seems like a goodbye interview. He’s generally very forward looking, but everything he said was in the past tense regarding New Orleans.

I think if he answered honestly, he was looking to get out of here, but there were a lack of teams with cap space and him being restricted complicated things.

All that being said, I’m fine with him being back in the fold. He is a good 6th-8th man. If he is able to tighten the 3 ball up, he will probably live up to the contract.

If most of this deal isn’t non guaranteed, then it’s a huge overpay and L for Griff. I’ll wait on the details

I think he may have just wanted to keep his options open. I didn't hear the interview, but I could see him just trying to use leverage to get a better deal than may have been on the table.

I mean, who really knows.

I could very much see Hart starting if he can improve his shooting with Vinson and given our need for some perimeter defense.

This team is really cramped in the guard/wing position. Interesting to see how this pans out. I assume Naji is odd man out in regard to playing time.

Murphy is just way too valuable as a spacer and defender to not get solid minutes on this team. Would make little sense for him to get minimal minutes

With Hart's ability to play the 2,3,and 4, it's definitely going to affect the minutes of several young guys. It also makes me think they'll play Temple a lot more than we initially expected. I wouldn't be surprised if the vets get most of the minutes especially early on and the young players will have to fight and earn minutes.

I guess Naji and/or Murphy is going to be the backup 4.

Realistically Hart, Murphy, and Marshall (maybe Jones in the future too) can all play back up 2-4. There aren't that many bench 4's who are going to make you pay with their size. I would assume that Hart and Murphy will probably get minutes over Marshall at this point though (could be wrong there).

I also wouldn't be shocked if Temple got minutes over Kira toward the beginning of the season.

ETA: if we're trying to win as many games as possible, I wouldn't be surprised if our 2 deep starting the season was:

Jonas/Hayes
Zion/Hart
BI/Murphy
NAW/Sato
Graham/Temple
