And he’s already started 41 this season.

Just incredible to see how far he’s come since last year. He’s also shooting 39% from 3 this year, slightly up from the 38% he shot as a rookie.

Langdon and Griff knocked it out of the park with this kid. I hope he’s a Pel for a long time.

Another player this board was going into clown shoes territory about during the losing streak.

Murphy to me remains the best non-Zion pick of the Griff era. Dyson a close second.

To me he is the most untouchable player of all our young developmental guys.

His upside is a near all star level player.

You can go ahead and remove “near” from the above statement

He looks like a more athletic Klay Thompson when he plays his A game

Needs to improve still to get to that level. But his flashes are insane.

TRIGGAHH.
Biggest issue for him is consistency. We desperately need a consistent 3 point flamethrower and the gravity that provides. We know he can shoot, now let's string together more games like this.

His shot unlocks our offense.

It's really going to be hard to take him out of the starting lineup when Zion gets back, but Herb's defense is also tough to do without.

Herb is a better pick than both of them considering you got a DPOY typer defender out of the 2nd round.

Yup. His potential with his athleticism and shooting is way too valuable.

i mean that dunk was a thing of beauty, klay could never do that.

that being said, if he could consistently do what he did today, that's a whole fricking lot.

my BIGGEST gripe about how we use him is that our offense doesn't move him around to get open shots

My point was that comparing him to prime Klay is WAY underrating Klay's shooting.

If Trey could be half as lethal as that Klay was, he'd be an all star.

Let me clarify that I meant this strictly offensively. Trey’s defense isn’t near that level.

Klay could shoot better 3s with some traffic abd Trey this year is still about 2.5% behind Klay's average 3pt%, but Trey is overall more efficient shooting. That said, Tret is used differently enough that I don't think it's necessarily a fair comparison for either player.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. People were saying he didn’t take a leap from last year and that was crazy to say even before the lakers game. Dude is a stud

Only thing fair to be critical about was not shooting enough! When he plays with confidence it’s a thing of beauty. He wasn’t taking enough shots during the losing streak. But all that he needed was more confidence.

Tonight was a thing of beauty from him for sure. If he can improve to be even an average defender, he'll be a huge piece for the team.

I truly believe that, assuming perfect team health, Trey is the difference between us being a fringe competitor vs. being a proper champ.

He will there’s no doubt in my mind. I don’t even think he’s a bad defender right now. Just not an average or positive one. He has the size, length, and athleticism. Now he needs the mental part of defense which can take a minute. He is 22, he will get better

Pels have gotten a lot of production for their money. The majority of our roster has been in the league 2 or less years.

So he's not a bad defender but not an average one?

That's the definition of bad. He has been a terrible defender this season.

Trey has a shite ton of upside and tonight was a fantastic game from him, but a lot of people in this thread are getting drunk off of one performance. His full body of work this season has been underwhelming on the whole.

He needs to show he can string games together, not saying he needs to make 30 on 9 FG every night, but it'd be nice if he can string 4 or 5 games together where he makes 3+ three's a game.

Trey Murphy is Rudy Gobert sized, Klay Thompson, with Vince Carter dunking ability and a Joe Burrow level of swagger.
