Murph is averaging 1 less 3PA per 36 minutes this season than he did last year. Definitely would like to see that go up.

Also would like for him to be more active rebounding. 4.5 boards per 36 minutes. That’s the same as McCollum

Let me clarify that I meant this strictly offensively. Trey’s defense isn’t near that level.

Klay Thompson has a bag tho

Murphy has been great but he has no mid range like Klay. He either scores at the rim or via the 3.

Klay doesn’t score at the rim like him but does a lot of other things that Trey can’t

His three point percentage from mid-December through January was below 35%. That's underwhelming

Amazing how you say something so wrong like it’s fact. People need to temper their expectations with Trey. He’s getting there. I do agree he needs more rebounds.

But he has shown that he can do this.

No, not really.

He has shown he can hit open shots and drive a close out, but the idea Trey has been iso cooking people is a straight myth.

Literally 95% of his 3p shots are 0 dribbles and open or wide open according to tracking data.

The team doesn’t run plays for him, we do a poor job balancing the floor due to personnel, injuries, and Willie prioritizing defense and not shooting, and we don’t really have any natural point guards that pass guys open and look to get guys going.

The idea Trey should be nearly leading the team in attempts is just entirely unrealistic. Until this team gets healthy, adds a Beasley or more shooters of that nature, and helps draw defenders off Trey, it is unrealistic to expect this every game or for him to look like some gunner when he is exclusively a catch and shoot guy on a team without good floor balance

One additional area that I find needs improvement is Trey's finishing through contact when attacking the rim. When he gets fouled in the air, the ball is usually nowhere close to falling through for an And1.

His excellent FT shooting saves it from being a total loss, but he has a big enough looking frame, I get tricked thinking he should come away with more points than just 2 FTs.

He probably just needs more muscle, which may only come with time.

Klay having Steph to open shots for him helped make him special.

Klay will always be a great shooter but having a multi time MVP next to you means they can’t just double or triple team you.

That crossover and drive to the hoop finishing with a dunk is what I want to see more of Trey. We know he’s a sniper from 3. If he can become good at driving to the hoop his game will be lethal.
