re: Pelicans should take the interim off James Borrego and give him a chance
Posted by From Rice to Ingram on 12/27/25 at 12:55 pm to shel311
He should have been the coach to start the season. Last season. It is insane that the franchise stuck with WG so long. Normally, I think teams are way too quick to replace the head coach but the Pelicans did the opposite and killed their chances in two different seasons as a result of it. Even if they were relatively healthy last season, I doubt we are anything more than a play-in team becuase of how inept WG really was as a coach.

Trey Murphy has to be better. Kawhi killed him in the fourth. Now, I would have put Zion on Kawhi and Trey and zubac. But Willie gonna Willie.
He really is the worst in-game coach I have ever seen.

The confused Willie look in important moments. Amazing we still have to suffer watching him "coach."

As usual against this team, the refs favor them at the end of the game

I love to see Herb make that play in transition, using his length to get to and finish at the rim. This squad definitely has the talent that made me bet on the over 29.5 wins

Lots of foul calls this quarter has killed the pacing. Overall, a good half though.

This is a solid depth piece. I like the move.
Overall, I liked the players they drafted quite a bit actually. I have been vocal about my disdain for the trade but it is what it is and at least I am happy with the draft they just risked a lot on.

Gayle is, by far, the best owner that the Pels have had since the move to Nola. But I love that someone thinks that we were a better organization back when the Walrus had to not only be the GM, but also do all of the coaching and scouting.
LOL, that's a short list. Yes, she is better than George Schinn who is perhaps in the 5 worst owners in the modern NBA.

Fair but there is no way Griffin makes this trade without at least making it top 3 protected. This has the potential to be worse than the Kobe trade which at least we made to get a known, quality starting Center at that time. I am so freaking pissed

We are doing a fantastic job on this rebuild.... of the Atlanta Hawks.

I have been following this shite show since the Charlotte Hornets years. If this turns into a top 3 pick, I might finally move on for my own sanity.

Joe Dumars deserves to be fired for that. We are the worst franchise in sports, sans maybe the Sacramento/Las Vegas Athletics.

Amazing the amount of help we have given Atlanta to rebuild

Even if we make the playoffs, the Bucks could seriously suck next year if Giannis misses time or they do actually end up trading him.
Dumars just totally botched the frick out of this.

The Atlanta Hawks are trading the No. 13 pick in the Draft to the New Orleans Pelicans for the No. 23 pick, an unprotected 2026 first round pick (most favorable of New Orleans and Milwaukee), sources tell ESPN.
Whooooa. That is not a good trade at all. How the hell is it unprotected?

but they don't bust every year. Kira and Hawkins yes but they certainly hit on TM3 and Missi (where he was drafted).

Keep on falling Ace. Of course, I expect we draft for need because we suck at life but still hoping for Bailey

The Darko over Wade (Wade was better than Melo, sorry!) was a disaster for sure...but only in hindsight. Sort of like picking Zion #1. At the time, everyone thought it was a good idea, only for things to not pan out.
I remember it much differently where Carmelo was the consensus #2 with Bosh being considered the best big man, especially after Darko worked out for teams but, yeah, he was still a top 5 prospect at the time so it wasn't like a reach or anything. Just turned out horrifically when looking at the rest of the top 5. Sort of like the Kings taking Bagley second overall where the rest of the top 5 went Ayton, JJJ, Doncic, and Trae.

I bet they don't make any significant changes unless they can land someone like Giannis
Agreed. They will blame it on injuries which is pretty fair. I do question if Garland and Mitchell are a good playoff pairing though.
re: N/P: Scoop B is saying Giannis wants to stay in the East and is eyeing Brooklyn & Toronto
Posted by From Rice to Ingram on 5/15/25 at 8:54 pm to Fun Bunch
Smart man. The West is stupid deep right now. The Mavericks were on the verge of collapse but the league fixing the lottery for them changed that overnight. Most teams have a bright future or can trade to at least create a path to a bright future. The East has Boston, Indiana, New York, and Cleveland. None of the crappy teams really have much young talent or crazy amount of draft picks.

Start the conspiracy theories about Silver promising the number 1 if Dallas have Luca to LA.
Is it really a conspiracy theory when more than 50% of the vested people believe it? Sort of like how most believe that JFK wasn't just a lone gunman operating independently. At some point, it just becomes the most likely outcome.
