We need him to shoot more since we are lacking shooters. If that hurts his TS, so be it, but he has to be more aggressive like he was tonight, even if he goes 2/11 instead of 9/11

Even when he was on fire, guys stuck to him like glue and he couldn't get open or even when he was open our guards can't get him the ball.

that's more on the lack of shooters & piss poor guard play rather than Trey IMHO

And lol at people in here saying “2nd year” for Trey also being the same ones that have given up on Herb

I'm genuinely curious to see if Broski will change his stance given how much better Trey has shot than he thinks.

Partly true, but Trey doesn’t actively move off ball that offen, tonight notwithstanding. Hopefully a night like tonight changes that.

Why don’t you answer the post completely destroying your argument that trey was bad from mid December through January

Dude you’ve been hard on Trey for the last month too.

Sure, the numbers are better than they seem, still Trey needs to shoot more.

He won’t. This guy is clearly delusional. Trey is looking like a top 7 guy from his draft class and broski thinks he’s underwhelming

Not just better than they seem. Better than what you told us. So where did you get those numbers for your agenda broski?

If part of the reason you think he's underwhelming this season is you thought he shot 32% from 3 during a 6 week stretch where he was actually 50/40/90 and THAT doesn't get you to reevaluate your stance, then I think it's fair to say that nothing will change that stance.

My stance that he needs to shoot more?

That’s what has been underwhelming for me

That's fine but that's not at all what you said was underwhelming initially. If it was, I simply would have said I agree with you lol.

So when I wondered aloud if you'd change your stance, if you did change it from Trey's total body of work is underwhelming to Trey not shooting as much as he should is underwhelming, then good for you.

I think we are all guilty of looking at Trey as a finished product at times this season.

There's still a lot of development left in his game. These new layers will be added each and every year.

His expectations this year was to add some diversity to his game with dribbling, driving, and finishing off of contact on top of improving his range.

He's done that. I think we gotta slow down a bit on what he is right now vs what he will be in year 3 and 4.

Fact of the matter is Trey needed to step up with BI out and he didn’t. Not saying throw him out, but I expected more, not Ingram numbers, but more.

I was wrong about the numbers, my bad, but we need more from Trey going forward.

We do, the issue is that Trey is not a star player who you can give the ball and he can just attack the rim or make something for himself or others. At least not this year.

He's a damn good shooter, but if this year has shown: he's dependent on other facilitators to get him the ball.

I wish he got 8-9 3s a game, but his shots are all quality shots (5.5 a game). We need to actually draw up shite for him though to specifically move him off-ball to get open for it. That's the issue, we don't do that and our facilitators miss him often times when its wide open too.

But he has shown that he can do this. I want him to keep doing it, even if he has bad nights where the ball won’t go in. Eventually more will go in than won’t if his percentages are anything to go by. That doesn’t mean me expecting him to be a star.

It’s better than him becoming static and invisible, which still happens far more than it should.

ETA: That’s where my “underwhelming” comment lies, I had the parameters wrong when I said “mid DEC through Jan”. I read it wrong and was looking only at his Jan numbers. Mea culpa.

You can looks up the rest but those are all either stars or center and then there’s trey

This should stop any argument about trey. He is a top 4 player on the pels going forward.

No one said he’s not. But we need him avg more than 12.7 ppg, especially when we’re missing Zion and BI for long stretches
