The new coach just needs to call Zion/BI P&R's and have everyone else sit at the 3 point line and wait for a kickout.
That is one of the most perplexing issues I had last season….with Ingram saying he wasn’t happy about plays not being drawn up for himself and Zion, that makes it even more bizarre!
If Stan was the one who put “point Zion” into existence, then why would they not have tried to work PnR into the game with Ingram….it seems like a no brainer that should have been our bread and butter game plan.
On the other hand, I’m a little wary of how much truth there is to what Ingram is saying there. Mainly because I’m not certain Ingram’s BBIQ is too high. When he gets passed the ball at the top of the key, he tends to probe too much and goes into ISO mode instead of taking open shots.
I would expect the coaching staff to be intelligent enough to work on such plays with your two stars, so maybe it is an issue with Zion and Ingram along with poor coaching.
One problem I see, is that Ingram is most likely not a very good screener and doesn’t entirely make the right reads in those scenarios. He’s much better being the ball handler in PnR situations with a Big setting the screen, where he can drive to the rim or feed the rolling big to the basket. You saw this a lot when Zion was off the court and BI was running PnR with Adams or Billy H.

I can't see them hiring a genius type as HC. Leader/motivator seems to be what they need most. Weaver as lead assistant would make sense though.
I can see that.
I also think it's pathetic that that is the case here, that we have to coddle these dumbasses to motivate them to play better.
Doesn't matter who the coach is, do what he says and give it 100%. If the team fails with everyone giving 100%, it's the coaches fault. If you can't give 100% to the coaches direction he wants to take the team, then you fail as a player and no matter what, the team was always going to fail.

I do not want Vaughn. His time in Orlando speaks for itself. And the roster wasn't that bad, at least not bad enough to keep winning under 25 games.
Im not pushing for him as the hire but fwiw...
3 best players in 2012/13:
Tobias Harris (only played 27 games)
Aaron Affalo - 16/4/3
JJ Redick - 15/2/4 (6th man)
Or you maybe could argue a 15/7/2 Glen Davis who played 33 might be top 2.
2013/14
Aaron Affalo - 18/4/3
Tobias Harris - 15/7/1
Nikola Vecevic - 14/7/2
A wonderful 6th man in the 7ppg Maurice Harkless
2014/15:
Nikola Vecevic - 19/11/2
Victor Oladipo - 18/4/4
Tobias Harris - 17/7/2
So two of the years he had possibly the worst lineup in basketball. In 3 years he had one player that would even sniff being an all-star and never had anybody average 20 ppg. The most impressive thing anybody on his team did in 3 years was have a guy average 11 rpg and another guy average 7.4 apg.
Like I say, im not pushing for him to be the coach i'm just giving his defense argument. The teams finished about like I would expect them to with that roster no matter who was the coach.

Master P Wants Pelicans Head Coaching Gig

Zion Will Be Happy!
I feel like if he was the head coach anywhere else, he'd go by Percy Miller, but if he's head coach in New Orleans, he's sticking with Master P!

The Boston Celtics are finalizing an agreement to hire Brooklyn Nets assistant Ime Udoka as the franchise's new coach, sources tell ESPN.

Yeah Udoka was mentioned here a bunch last offseason. Glad he got a job, and that is a very good one.
Will be interested to see how fast Griff moves.

Also, I only see three jobs that were available as possibly better than ours: Celtics, Mavs, Blazers.
That is one down in the Celtics, the Mavs possibly going internal with Mosley (although who knows), and the Blazers possibly down to Hammon and Billups.

Take the job, Charles. You know you want it.

I really don't see any upside with Portland.
They're stuck in no man's land.

In the short term it is just because of Lillard.
But that might last one season.
Also:
You'll recall that Griffin said he was not going to consult Zion or BI.

Per league source, the Tatum/Brown/Smart axis was consulted. "(The Celtics) wouldn't do anything unless key players were on board with it."

Did Carlisle shoot himself in the foot? Haven't even heard his name come up for any of these jobs.

You mean by getting out now as opposed to being fired by Luka mid-season next year? Everything we've heard since he left said there was no saving that marriage.
Posted on 6/23/21 at 2:36 pm to Fun Bunch
A former coach like Stevens knows exactly how to relate to his players especially ones that he coached. Griffin on the other hand is a control freak.

Misjudging the market happens. I don't think Atkinson expected to end up as an assistant, but HC to assistant is pretty common in the NBA. I wish Carlisle didn't have so many rumored personality negatives coming out about him, he's the kind of guy you'd love to have next to a first time head coach.

There's still like 6 jobs available.

good.
the person that is hiring my manager doesn't consult with me or anyone else at my level about who he should hire.
Griff shouldn't have to consult with them. He should be around them enough to know what kind of coach would be best for them, regardless of what kind of coach those two think they would like.
