Morey traded CP3, Capela, 2020 first, 2024 first, 2026 first, 2021 swap, 2023 swap for Westbrook and Covington.

Yeah idk wtf Morey is doing. Gave up A LOT for just Covington.

Shamit was speculating they're building up their bid for Jrue.
Seems to me, team morale is the main reason to avoid trading Jrue at this point. He's a leader. The guys really like him, and respect him. JJ came here because of him(and a money). On the court, I really think they'd be fine.
My only problem is, I just don't really like the Denver deal. Now Beasley wouldn't even be in it. You're basically trading Jrue for Gary Harris and picks? I'd pass.

Yeah I’m not doing a deal with Denver unless MPJ is involved.

I really like Atlanta's roster. We'll see if it ever actually turns into winning basketball, its early, but I like them.

CP3 deal was all Harden. He wanted Paul out. Russ l, at this point, is the anti-Morey player: volume shooting, low efficiency.
Capela is interesting. My guess is they don't think the lose much going small and they also get under the tax line. I also bet the 2nd part drove that deal. Their owner is a shitshow. Doubt Morey sticks around much longer with him

Houston will get destroyed in the playoffs if they have to face Lakers or Denver
They have zero answer for any kind of size

They'd need to use 1sts to get someone the Pels want if they won't give up MPJ. I came up with a fake 3 way in the Jrue thread
NOLA: Gary Harris, Myles Turner, Jerami Grant
Denver: Jrue
Indy: Derrick Favors, 2 1sts
If Griff is holding out for higher level talent I can understand, but that's a reasonable value for everyone involved.

I’d do that in a heartbeat and I think Denver would too. I assume Indy would be the only potential hold up

Would finally get to see how that Jamal Murray, Jrue backcourt would work out like I wanted years ago, but in Denver :(

Updated 2020 NBA cap space projections:
1. Atlanta - $58.6M
2. Memphis - $52.7M
3. New York - $47.2M
4. Phoenix - $26.3M
5. Cleveland - $25.9M
6. Charlotte - $24.9M
Just those six teams with space. Very different summer in 2020 than it was in 2019. Little space + weak FA class.
re: favors' 2020 FA
take ATL off the list
MEM has JV
PHX has baynes & ayton
NYK ???
CLE is rebuilding
CHA is rebuilding
where's the big offer coming from?

We've seen in the past that if a team wants a player, they find ways to make it work.
But I hear you.

indy gets 2 1sts and favors for turner
denver gets holiday for harris/grant/2 1sts
pels get turner/grant/harris for holiday
you might be a trade machine savant

what that means is, that favors' bird rights do have value. that should mean that his value now, at the deadline, surpasses his production/player value

Does any form of Jrue Holiday for CJ McCollum make any sense for either team?

I think Jrue's shortcomings on offense are a problem today, and McCollum's shortcomings on defense would be a problem tomorrow when Ingram and Zion become more reliable on offense so McCollums strengths don't help as much.
So many issues will either get fixed or become clearer how to address them as Zion/Ingram improve. I hope Griffin is holding out for young talent with Jrue. Because if we trade him for a more offensively skewed version of himself I think we'll regret it in a few years.

I showed a while back how Miami can very easily make a trade for Jrue and find a way to dump one more contract and be able to offer DeRozan a max. Do you think the Heat care about keeping Herro and Duncan Robinson if it means they can trade for Jrue and sign DeRozan to play with Jimmy?
There are plenty of teams that can create cap space if they want to. hell we could very easily. We are around $100M with Jrue without resigning anyone, including holds for Ingram and 1st round pick and incomplete roster spots. If we traded Jrue for Harris/MPJ (not counting Grant b/c he's an expiring), we are around $95M, which is still around $20M in cap space. Now we could easily resign guys like Favors and Grant and Moore and not have space, but if we wanted it, we could make space very easily, and we can also make uneven trades and take back lots of salary. We could trade Redick in a heartbeat and not take anythign back if we wanted to.
It's not hard for most teams to create a good bit of cap space, if they wan to. Given this FA class, i doubt many teams want to.
