Those days are long behind us. More and more athletes and coaches are become outspoken on their political beliefs. It is what it is. Doesn’t change the game, and you can choose to ignore it.

Them days seem far past us now. You have crazies on the right, who shite on Obama for 8 years, and complained about how this country sucks, then now are telling anyone who says a bad word about Trump that they should leave the country because they hate this country. One side is doing bad shite thinking they are doing good, the other side is being manipulated with scare tactics by politicians and news programs. And social media has given a louder voice to all of these lunatics.

Within 24 hours SVG has become my number one choice for job, of the guys that seem to be options.

My ideal scenario at this point would be SVG as the HC, Weaver as the OC, and Mosley as the DC. Though, its probably unlikely Mosley leaves Dallas for a lateral move.

Stan probably brings in one or two of his guys, and I still feel like Griffin's gonna bring in a connection from his Phoenix or Cleveland days. Some recently retired player, imo.

The mandate it be played at every football event during WWII to stoke and promote national loyalty and morale. And so, I hate to break it to you, but what it amounts to in that context is in fact people choosing what politics they want on display and what ones they don’t. That is unless your position is to do like most other sports in most other countries in the world, and leave out the organized patriotism and chauvinistic displays altogether, and just play the game...

I've questioned the playing of the National Anthem for many years, on TD. I don't think sporting events should and think its weird.

I mean what I say, I want as close to virtually no politics intermingled with sports as possible.

The exception being the Olympics which is going to have some inherent degree of politics to it.

Fair enough. For the record that part was meant as a broad statement, wasn’t meaning to just single you out or anything. But I assumed wrong there. As that is typically how this debate plays out. People want to keep the aggressive organized patriotism before and within sections of the games, but remove the ability for players to make alternative statements....Or we’ll cancel you lol.

When it’s good to step back and realize this stuff didn’t just materialize and perpetuate because god came down and said the righteous will display flags of America at all sports events, sing songs of its greatness, and routinely speak in specific language of its supposed exceptionalism before and during all events, it became a thing because of politics and it continued to be a thing because of politics and money. Largely money.

And deviations that germinate in response to that pageantry are political because they respond to and bounce off a politically motivated and rooted display. And those deviations can’t exist or make proper sense without the other.
