Of course the team has no leverage, they have been telling every team he must go so team are not motivated to give up fair value

There has to be more to it and Ingram's manager cannot be that bad. He has to be able to gauge the market and see what a fair market deal would be for him. Even if that means going and finding those deals from other teams. Our desperation could not totally tank his value. Teams still want good-elite players, even if they have to overpay. I would think his low perceived value now, would cause a bidding war, absent other factors. For whatever reason, that's not happening, which is very telling.

I look over the market and I don't see a spot for him now. I look at other contracts and I can't see him getting 40M a year. Is he really better or more impactful than D. White from the Celtics? He got 126M over 4 years. Derozan got less than 30M a year. Bridges got 25M/year. I think that's about his level (at best)..

The problem is that Ingram has been told by his own organization for the last 4 years that he is a max player. If you would have asked anyone in the Pels organization on January 1st of this year if BI was going to get a max, the overwhelming answer would have been yes. That is a pretty large pendulum swing for Ingram to accept in just over 6 months. Ingram's max has always been scary but I don't think Ingram had any inclination he wouldn't get it until right after the playoffs.

We traded for Murray.
true but BI will still take the last shot and as of now our starting center is Daniel Theis 6’ 8” 245 lbs. Maybe a play in team… maybe

Well we only have a $9m TPE and a $5m TPE to work with unless we send someone out like BI, CJ, Hawkins, etc.

That kind of limits who a “cheap pickup” is. Best fit for us is Kessler, who will still cost one or more picks and fit into the Kira TPE.

Kessler would fit into the $5M TPE. Give Ainge a lottery-protected first and a second and call it a day.

If BI takes a last minute shot with Zion and Murray on the team I'll never watch another game. Dude is so unclutch

This has to be posturing. We simply can’t extend BI and Trey while paying CJ, Zion, and Dejounte. That is an unbalanced roster and only one multi time All Star. The trade is inevitable.

CJ will be 33 this season, and the following is the last on his contract. I don’t think we’re going to be in the market to re-sign a 35 year old McCollum, so he might be on his way out next offseason anyway.

CJ is likely the odd man out.

Pretty sure Griff would’ve already called it into the league office if that was the asking price

CJ should be fairly easy to move at the deadline to a team like LA or something if we need. No long term commitment needed, he provides immediate shooting and can fit in virtually anywhere

But if Im Trey why am I extending knowing again he has a bench role, probably gets less minutes and may not be in the finishing five?

I think we flip CJ next offseason...mid-season if this season is total flop

Cap going up will help move his contract next year

he still has an expensive but valued skillset league wide

Pels just need to make sure Murphy and Hawkins are ready to take over his minutes which I think Murphy definitely is ready for starter minutes...Hawkins we shall see but I think can ascend to 6th man status for us by year 3

CJ may be harder to trade than BI at least this offseason.

Because he’s going to be a Restricted Free Agent so the Pels can and would match offers he got. I also would imagine mama Murphy would tell him to not be a fool and take the guaranteed $100+ million.

if this reporting is true, that the organization believes it's more of a financial situation, vs. a fit on the court situation, then we are more fricked than I thought we were...

to keep Brandon at the expensive of Zion flourishing and Trey, one of our best shooters, getting more minutes, when we've seen that it's all wonky with him and Zion on the court together, is the epitome of complete mismanagement and having not a fricking clue

I understand CJ's age. I also fully understand he probably won't be on this team in two years. I just cannot fathom paying Ingram over $175 million when we know he does not fit with Zion and we know that together those two will lead us nowhere because of the poor fit. We go out and get a ball dominant guard to go with our franchise player and we are going to sign the ill fitting piece to a $175+million deal in this landscape? The trade is inevitable. The only real question is the timing of when Griff will accept what he considers to be a low ball offer.

Trey can get that type of money from other teams as well later on. Other teams love Trey.

For Trey, you have to believe it's about a starting position especially if money is going to be similar.

It’s not about the money, it’s about the rules. He’ll be an RFA. You can’t just hand waive that off.
