Youre missing the point, its not that they fired him, its that they didnt do it right or something

Pelicans media groupies are worse than the organization itself

How do you define a "good living?" He was an equipment manager for Shinn and Benson, two owners who do not overpay lower tier employees.

Anyone who has followed the team from the beginning knows of him and are probably upset. He moved with the team during the relocation and was well known with the fans. It was also reported that many were let go by email. I hope they at least had the decency to tell him in person.

I get the emotional aspect of him being let go, but its time to fill this organization with young stat nerds and people with new ideas. Yes, I know how stupid this sounds with our current front office and ownership makeup.

If we’re bringing in the equipment manager to look at tape and dissect stats we’re even dumber than I thought.

Head of equipment for an NBA team isn’t some lower tier job. He’s likely been making over $100k for the past decade+. His assistants probably made dogshit, but it’s a position where he was on call 8-9 months out the year.

People aren’t mad at the message, they hate the messenger because he’s been an aloof boss his first year in the role.

I didn't say we were, just that I'd like to see this organization move away from business as usual and "well, thats what weve always done"

There was nothing positive to come out of letting him go, only a ton of negative.

It just shows how out of touch the owner and decision makers are with the franchise and its fanbase.

If you’re going to do something like this, and in business sometimes you need to, you do it right. You talk with him about it, you offer him something nice to make this easy, you do a little Thank You post and press release and so on. Simple little things that make something that isn’t nice seem nice.

You don’t fire him by email and then say nothing.

It's just poor taste and bad business.

No one is really upset with the need to make changes. We understand that. The Equipment Manager is a net neutral in this case and isn't conducive to winning. Maybe it's a cost control measure. I can understand that too.

It's shameful to be cowardly and do it via email. Have some balls, call them into the office and do it face-to-face.

And, honestly, it's all window dressing anyway. Until Lauscha and his ilk are gone from Gayle's orbit nothing will change. It's a different shade of lipstick on the same fricked up, unorganized, delusional pig.

Todd Graves...please buy the team.

It’s what they do and how these equipment managers work that gets respected

Are we sure they aren’t going to do nice things for him on the way out?
