Maybe signing and trading for the warriors castoffs was a bad idea

One and only one center on the roster. Lovely.

Missi, Queen and Karlo

Also, we aren't even in free agency yet.

queen and karlo aren't centers. of course you could put them there but they will get abused by the actual centers in our conference.

Because Looney was such a bright star last year and wasn't abused at all...

where did I say looney was good? Him being arse is why we had Missi, Queen, and Karlo playing all the minutes there. Which is a major reason why we sucked arse

Looney was garbage which is why they sat him and played Deandre Jordan. I have a feeling we will end up with Wendell Carter Jr.

Many of you (not all) underestimate Karlo. By far he is the best athletic big on this team and the best athlete we have had since AD. Coming into the league he was compared to Isaiah Hartenstein (2nd round pick 43 in 2017). If true, let's look at Hartenstein's progression.

During Hartenstein's first five years in the league, he was virtually non-existent (12 total starts). It wasn't until year two as a Knick that his career took off. Now, I don't know about you, but I would love to have IH on this team right now. Now 28 years-old, he goes toe-to-toe with the best big men the league has to offer and has proven to be a big winner.

Add to this, the fact that Karlo's range dwarves IH, and you definitely have the makings of big-time contributor.

DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!!

I would say that it was more that he was a poor fit with the rest of the roster. But, yeah, I wouldn't want him back for the veteran minimum, much less for $8 million. We should be about $12 million under the tax now, which gives us plenty of room to find a decent center.

It looks the $$ would be $14mil not including Dickinsons $2mil.

1. We can cut Hawk and create the full $15mil NTMLE.
2. We can take back a higher salary in a Poole/ Hawk trade close to $50mil
3. We can take back salary in a Poole/ Hawk trade and also create another trade exception for difference of cost.

We picked up his option so his salary is guaranteed.

I’m playing around on the trade machine, sounds like OKC is looking to dump Dort to get under the 2nd apron. I wonder if they would be interested in a deal that sends Hawk there for Dort? It would work salary wise if we tie it into a Poole for Turner deal. It would get them about 8 or so million under the apron, and allow them to keep Kenrich.

an under the radar festering self inflicted wound. There was no reason to pick up that option. Now it is seriously hindering team building opportunities

Not really, it’s sort of like having a 7 million dollar trade exception. Even declining his option we wouldn’t have cap space, so no reason to let him walk for nothing.

Yea.. we need to see what happens in free agency before we come to a conclusion about his contract. It can still be useful to get a high salary player here.

The only reason to pick up his option is to trade him. Either a $7mil exception, player swap, or create up to $51.25mil to take back in a Poole/ Hawk trade.

Just for roster overview, not set in stone:

Murray/ Fears
?? / Bey/ McGowens/ Pierre
Trey/ Herb/ Peavy
Zion/ Queen/ Karlo
?? / Missi

Poole- $34mil
Hawk- $7mil
NTMLE- $12mil
