Are you kidding? Queen and Karlo as centers? Holy fricking Moses.

Many of you (not all) underestimate Karlo. By far he is the best athletic big on this team and the best athlete we have had since AD. Coming into the league he was compared to Isaiah Hartenstein (2nd round pick 43 in 2017). If true, let's look at Hartenstein's progression.

During Hartenstein's first five years in the league, he was virtually non-existent (12 total starts). It wasn't until year two as a Knick that his career took off. Now, I don't know about you, but I would love to have IH on this team right now. Now 28 years-old, he goes toe-to-toe with the best big men the league has to offer and has proven to be a big winner.

Add to this, the fact that Karlo's range dwarves IH, and you definitely have the makings of big-time contributor.

Again!!!
Three-level scorer who is particularly proficient going downhill and doesn't shy away from contact. Dominated against mid-level college competition. He played primarily as a ball-dominate orchestrator which is going to have to change at the next level. The fact that he's local adds flavor to his selection.

I'm thinking Donte' DiVincenzo with 'ups' which would be a great catch in the late second round.

Glad to see he's working on his defensive footwork. He needs to.

I'm really fascinated what happens with Poole.

I would be on the phone to Miami regarding either Poole or, possibly, Hawkins, Aside from Fontecchio, they just traded away all their potential three-point firepower. Perhaps some sort of a trade involving Nikola Jovic (who is now odd man out in Miami) and either Poole or Hawkins could be orchestrated.

Otherwise, I would play Poole significant minutes to start the season with the hopes of rehabbing him for a mid-year trade for something of value.

While I don't think he's a starter, Karlo will get significant minutes next year. He's the most athletic big we have and his ability to play on the perimeter and hit the 'baby three' (.422 last year) will open the floor for both Queen and # 1. Plus, guess who led the team in FG% last year (15 games minimum)?

Lastly, no 'big' on the team has put in the effort he does on defense.

I sure hope he's hit the weights this summer.

I do not blame Murphy. I would not want to play with Zion.

Neither do I. Why would anyone want to play with someone so unreliable and vastly overrated when everyone who has moved on away from him has gone on to enjoy playoff success?

For those of you who downvoted this post. what's wrong? You can't handle a dose of the truth?

Would have been nice if either the # 1 or # 8 draft pick from 2019 would have stuck around in New Orleans in the offseason and had the same work ethic. We might be looking at a whole other team right now.

KUDDOS to both Fears and Queen!! It gives me an air of hope.

I'm not a Zion stan any more. I was yes. but I am over it, get him out of here. All I'm saying is Trey aint it either.

Conveniently, you failed to see what I said about 3M3:

"Though still limited, Murphy has more game than # 1."

...and yet you proceeded to argue with me by posting your analytical gobly-goop ignoring the facts I articulated.

Want more?

Trey, not # 1 led the team in scoring average this year.
Trey, not # 1 led the team in assists average this year.
Trey, not # 1, led the team in steals average this year.
-- and --
Trey averaged 4.8 defensive rebounds this year; # 1 averaged a horrible 3.7 defensive rebounds as a starting power forward..

saying all that just to say the team still went 22-44 and he was -169

# 1 Stans amuse me. They can't seem to find their noses on their own faces.

... Who do you want at the free throw line in clutch situations?
... If you need a three, who do you want shooting it?
... Why does a coach fighting for a job take out team's 'superstar' defensively in close games down the stretch?
... Why can't our 'superstar' power forward rebound defensively?
... Who's game has shown more improvement since their arrival in NOLA?
... Who do other NBA GMs covet, Trey Murphy III or our 'superstar', # 1?
... Doesn't market value mean anything?

Somehow, # 1's Kool-Aid drinking stans seem to overlook these obvious truths.

So, why doesn't Murphy get the same level of criticism?

Though still limited, Murphy has more game than # 1.

Who would you like on the free throw line with the game in the balance? Who would you like taking that last minute three to win a game? Did you notice how Borrego started benching # 1 last year defensively late in close games? Did you realize that 3M3 was a better defensive rebounder as your 3 and D guy than your so-called superstar as a Power Forward?

But most importantly:

Since their arrivals in New Orleans, who's game has shown more improvement; 3M3 or # 1?

Funny how there seems to be a vibrant market for 3M3 and no interest at all in # 1. Perhaps other NBA front offices don't see what you see, huh?

But if you don't know that Zion is by far the most talented player on our team, I don't know how to convince you otherwise.

I'm not quarreling you about the talent; he's gifted. Where you are wrong is calling him a top four PLAYER on the team.

Why?

You got to play to be called a player!!! But, never mind that, when he does participate, he DOES NOT make this team better. Just this year he graced us with his presence 62 times and we were rewarded with just 26 wins (on a team that wasn't trying to tank).

I know his stans think he walks on water, but all I see is a sinking ship. And our record since his inception in New Orleans bears me out.

SEVEN YEARS AND FAILING!!!

Our bench would legit destroy our starters in a game. 3 out of 4 best players coming off the bench.

Who are three of top four players in your opinion? Fears, Bey, and who?

Nonetheless, assuming if you are right, it would stand to reason that our 'bench' would destroy other 'benches'...no?

DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!!
Unless someone offered me an unreal deal for Herb or # 1, I believe I would stand pat with what I have right now and concentrate on midseason moves that would probably yield better returns.

Go with

Murray
Herb (maybe Bey)
3M3
Queen
Missi

Let # 1 come off the bench with Fears. Bey, Poole/Peavy, and Karlo.

If they wanted to bring in a cheap 'big', I would kick the tires on UFA Jock Landale who shows he has the ability to stretch the court. By no means is he a permanent fix for the center position, but he could be a bridge until we identify our long-term 5. Reminds me a little of Hartenstein.

DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!!
Two years ago, I wanted Fox badly. Now, no thanks. Give the keys to Murray until Fears is ready. Hopefully, by then Murray has re-established himself and we can cash in on his re-found value.

This team needs size. Our defensive rebounding statistics mandate it. We should all be sick and tired of the plethora of second chance points we have given up post-Valanciunas.

.....we're watching someone with a very similar build play PF in the Finals, that is a below average rebounder and the Knicks are making it work.

And OG Anunoby isn't the first or second option (Bronson and KAT) like # 1 is thought of. Plus, unlike # 1, Anunoby plays defense for his team.
Because he's mentally weak and always falls back on what HE THINKS he does best. His knowledge of the modern NBA is slim to none. When you are an undersized, one-dimensional player and play defense like the male version of Venus de Milo, you can't be a team's Marquee Player (unless you play for the Pelicans).

Who's my guy?

The guy I'd bench. The team cancer. The guy with a very limited offensive game and no defensive game at all. The guy who makes more headlines off the basketball court than on it. The superstar who possesses more super flaws in his game than one can count. The former Max Guy that gives minimum effort. The face of the franchise who barely cracks the top 50 players in the league and is rated behind another 2019 Pelican Draftee...Nickeil Alexander Walker. That guy!!!
