This one but BI will be not here either.

I wonder if this is the Cavs wanting Herb more than Pels wanting to trade Herb. I can easily see Pels telling Cavs we’ll give JV, Dyson and picks for Allen. Cavs probably are asking for Herb instead of Dyson. Knowing how much this coaching staff, players and organization value Herb- would find it odd if they traded him.
This makes sense. Herb with his contract is basically Boston Jae Crowder, who Ainge never traded because he was so valuable because of his contract. I feel like they would trade multiple picks before Herb.

It makes no sense to trade Herb, CJ, Trey, Larry and Jordan. They are role players that 100% fit how we need to play.
If we trade them we will be endlessly searching for their replacements.

Lively would be the only one on Mavs I would be interested in trading for.
Aside from Luka and Kyrie of course.

Mavs grabbin' Lively is one of main reasons I think they are about to become a serious contender. So, I doubt he's available.

I would be pissed if we traded Herb. Herb doesn’t go out unless a superstar is coming back. We have far too many assets to trade Herb for shits and giggles. And I don’t want to hear this can’t pay Trey shite, as that excuse makes no sense unless you were trading Herb for Kessler or some other rookie center

I'd trade BI or Z before I trade Herb. I have more faith in Herb developing into a 13-15ppg player than I have faith in BI and Z turning into a cohesive tandem.

Say it louder. Herb is a winning basketball player. I’m not trading Herb so I can build around 2 fricking losers like Zion and BI

I would agree.
Herb is elite at his role. No he isn’t better than BI or Zion, but if Zion cant be an all nba player and BI can’t be close behind that, then they are vastly overpayed and bottom tier for their role on a team.

Yeah frick trading Herb.
To me the untouchables are Herb, Trey, Zion, Hawkins.
Dyson goes in and out of that list for me.

Herb plays his role. Zion and BI have failed at playing their role of “star”

I’m not ready to give up on Dyson yet. He’s like 16. He’s got a high ceiling. Definitely sending out him before Herb though.

Pardon my ignorance, but why are the cavs trading Allen to the Pels in any of these scenarios? They are number 4 in their conference, 10 games over .500, despite Mobley and garland missing half the season. They don’t have a player or any significance over the age of 30.
They seem closing to a finals appearance than the Pelicans at the moment, but still have to contend with Embiid and Giannis.
I don’t really follow the cavs closely, but I can’t imagine them moving their starting center for anything less than a clear, clear roster upgrade.

Because Allen and Mobley don't seem to fit together.
Even though Mobley is out, this kinda shoes how good they can be with just one of them. But Allen would be the odd man out, Mobley isn't going anywhere.

Yea the Cavs have a very nice young core seemingly. I’ll take your word on the fit because I really don’t know.
Bad fit or not, I can’t imagine they are feeling any pressure to move him with two full years left on Allen’s contract. It’s going to take an aggressive package to get him this deadline I would think.

Look, I love Herb. He has turned into so much more than anticipated. But man, can we have an honest discussion the day after he got torched for 32 points in the first quarter and 52 in the game. Just two games ago, not one, but two guards scored 40+, one being a sixth man. In those two games, his primary matchups went for 94 points and he scored 19 on 2/7 shooting from 3. He is not untouchable by any means.
Now I would not just give him up and I surely would do everything possible to not include him in any deal. But if it’s the price for a true difference maker that compliments Zion better and ultimately raises the ceiling then the team has to be willing to entertain it.

I know you’re joking about him being 16 since he’s obviously 20 but you need to ask yourself a couple questions about Dyson.
First off what he does he do offensively at a NBA level well? Because honestly I don’t know a single thing he does well.
Second he needs a lot time and development- do you think the Pels are a franchise that has the patience to keep developing him when there is a win now mentality- for instance are you ok losing games because you want to develop Dyson?
Third- yes hes 20 but what do you think he can become? The guy is 6’6 and doesn’t even understand that he should dunk the basketball on a putback. I know freshman HS kids who show more aggression than him on offense. He may have good form but the dude literally throws up bricks from 3 and has no confidence.
Sorry about the long reply but I personally am trying to figure out if this guy is an offensive NBA player. We keep saying he has a high ceiling- I just don’t see it at all on offense.

it would make sense that we would trade herb after his 3 pt shooting is improving.
