I love me some VanVleet. Just like in college, he just always seems to be in proper positioning and is always making the right play.

So what is this team going forward if we add Monroe?

Davis, Cousins, Mirotic, Monroe & Jrue... that’s a great line up in 1992.

Alvin Gentry is the coach... that’s never a good thing.

I’m extatic we dumped Asik, I just don’t know what this team is now.

Monroe won’t be here next year and Mirotic is a very nice piece to have with AD and Boogie especially since Boogie will have restricted minutes most all next season.

Monroe would be a fill in for the rest of this year and wouldn’t be here next year.

On the roster next year for sure: Jrue, AD, Boogie, Mirotic, Miller

Very likely: Moore, Hill, Frank Jackson

50/50: Diallo, Rondo

So, to me, you got your 48 minutes at PF/C locked down with three elite guys. You probably got your 48 minutes at SG locked down. I think Rondo could come back because of his relationship with Boogie and Mirotic but it has to be in a backup role. They will still need a PG next year..Jackson won't be ready

Then, the key to it all could be Hill. Does he return to form? If so, do they keep him or try to package him with the first for an upgrade or an equal player on a smaller salary to avoid the tax?

Assuming they dump Ajinca and Benson let's them go slightly over the tax, this team would be a solid PG away from being a top 3 seed IMO. Assuming Boogie is 80-90 percent in 2019

I get that, but are we any different than the .500 team we currently are next year? Is Boogie still going to be a PG? What are we?

I would think adding Mirotic and Hill would make the team better than they've been this year.

We were a 6th seed with Boogie. Next year with the addition of Mirotic I think we can improve a seed or two.

we were 6 games over .500, not .500, and not sure if you were aware, but only 2 games out of the 3 spot when Cousins went down, and we were kicking on all cylinders finally. You get Hill back, you add Mirotic, find a PG, and this is a top 4 team easily, assuming good health, which is probably a stupid assumption.

Yeah the Pels were streaking. If Cousins wouldn’t have got hurt and they got Mirotic and Hill back we would have been in great shape to contend in the playoffs.

The current Pels are kind of like the 08 Lakers with three stud big men and a stud SG. Obviously Kobe was better than Holiday, but the Pels big men are better than what the Lakers had back then.

without a doubt. and we wouldn't have been a 7 or 8 seed.

We were 6 games over .500, was turning the corner, still had a favorable schedule, was about to get Hill back, make a trade for Mirotic. The idea of us winning 50 games this year was a very easy one to wrap your head around.
We were at the point where we can go .500 without Cousins, and still win 45 games. Wouldn't have been hard to get to 50.

I'm not used to seeing this optimism out of you. I don't like it.

not sure they even need to find a "PG"

if Boogie can still operate from outside, they can get by with more secondary ball handlers. a guard with similar ball handling skills to Holiday could probably get the job done

Agreed, it comes down to just needing another guard who can actually stay on the court, handle the ball in spurts, and not be a huge defensive liability. Point boogie reduces his turnovers by 1 a game by allowing him rest. It's those unforced turnovers when he's tired that needs to be fixed.

Dinwiddie is really the guy everyone is pushing and I think it's definitely right the more you think about it. Or someone like him too. Moore and Clark aren't the solution, if tyreke wouldn't be so a bone head he really could be.

From Mason Ginsberg Twitter regarding Mike Scotto article

quote:

A few great tidbits from Mike on the #Pelicans' due diligence before the Mirotic trade:
1) Pels offered Asik, Ajinca & a 1st to DAL for W. Matthews (before Boogie's injury)
2) Pels offered Asik & a 1st to LAL for J. Clarkson
3) Pels offered Ajinca & a 2nd to LAL for J. Randle

Glad the Lakers and Mavs didn't agree to the first two. Ooof. Would do two 2nds for the 3rd, but LAL won't take on salary for next year.

Which means that Ajinca and second is still in play.

But IMO not in this Lakers package. What is the sense of additional salary for them? They want max cap space

I am sure Dell is working the phones for something like Anjiica + 2018 2nd + 2019 2nd for Noel and Devin Harris.
