Including a $30M placeholder for Cousins, the #Pelicans sit at ~$126M in committed salary for 10 players next season (projected tax line is $121M):
A. Davis
D. Cousins
J. Holiday
N. Mirotic
S. Hill
E. Moore
A. Ajinca
D. Miller
C. Diallo
F. Jackson

Moving out Ajinca gets you right below the tax line. But you'd have no salary essentially to fill out the bottom of your roster.

Dump Diallo and Ajinca, add a 4th big and a PG, and that team is top 3 in the West if healthy.

LOL
the usual bad luck notwithstanding, the 2nd best player on the team you already know will not be healthy

A bench of Mirotic, Moore, Miller and possibly Jackson is a pretty decent bench.

So when is he supposed to come back? Been waiting forever.
Posted on 2/1/18 at 3:51 pm to ElRoos
He's been working at shoot arounds before the game for at least a week or 2 now. The supposed plan is to send him to the GLeague when he's ready.

Did hear today that they've talked with New Orleans. Don't have specifics, and most trades talked about don't happen. We do know the Wolves wanted Cunningham badly before the season. #Twolves #AllEyesNorth twitter.com/daddydaivin/st…

1st for Cunningham do it dell

I’d do it for a second, then you can dump Ajinca with those.
That is, if you land Monroe.

I don't see them having any trade exceptions. They'd need to send someone out. Aaron Brooks looks like he's not playing much and we could maybe use him. Brooks and a 2nd or cash for Dante?

I hope that means Solo is on the verge of a return

Cunningham would give away all our secrets in the PO.

No way they take Ajinca. They'll need to not pick up Aldrich's team option just to avoid the tax with the current contracts on the books. Getting much more than cash and Brooks for Dante seems unrealistic.

Traded a 35 year old, a 36 year old, and an albatross contract for Monroe and Mirotic. Dell just saved his job.

From a PHX sports guy (John Gambardoro):
quote:
Greg Monroe has spoken to both Boston and New Orleans could make decision in next 24 hours. More playing time and chance to start in New Orleans vs role off the bench and chance to win a championship in Boston.

I was joking, they're going to need to make some tough decisions.
I will comment though about Minnesota's tax issue. In what, 2 years they're going to need to re-max Butler and KAT? At some point they're going to need to think about what's more important long term: Wiggins or KAT. I honestly think Wiggins is going to be shipped off.
You're about to pay a guy literally 30mil/yr and he's going to be the 3rd best player on your team.

I'd definitely consider Brooks and a second. If we sign Monroe, all we'll need is guards/wings.

How do we anticipate filling out the rest of the roster next season? Vet minimums? Going into the luxury tax?
We obviously need a PG. Here is the short list of PG free agents that could be worthwhile and within our budget
Yogi Ferrell
Shabazz Napier
Fred VanVleet
Elfrid Payton (may be out of our price range)
all of these guys are young, can shoot (except for Payton), and play good to average defense.
