Also. You can go into the camp only with 20 players under contract. Two-way and Ex-10 included.
So Pels have 3 Ex contracts.

1. Griff & Trajan still are working on eventual trades.
2. Not making his deal official means we keep flexibility to be a part of a trade.

His base salary is $16M. Likely incentives are 900k.
If I remember right he has $1.3-1.5M unlikely incentives.

Dumping Beal for future pieces/picks and dead salary is the best solution for Pels (they owe NO two seconds).
Connolly likes to build through draft. He may value picks a lot....

You dont need to have cap space to sign your draft pick(s).
But cap space or different kind of exception can help you with giving additional year(s) to signing your 2nd round picks (there is no rookie scale for 2nd round)....
