I hope the Kings give Capela a max contract. It would be the Kings thing to do and would make the Rockets infinitely worse. Win-win in my book LOL

Do they write that into the contract or something? You think they'd give him Vlade's office?

ETA: For real though, they should give Capela a 4 year 88 mil contract offer. The Rockets would be basically forced to match it, then the Kings can offer to take Anderson with picks/assets. That's what they'd do if they were smart, but I doubt that'll happen.

Joel was on the radio the other day with Geltz or someone else that was saying teams are fearful that Houston might not match a big offer for Capela and you might get caught "holding the bag". They said Tilman is leveraged like crazy and may not be interested in paying huge tax bills going forward.

Fertitta had to come out and say that the tax wasn't influencing the Rockets free agency in any way at all after letting both Ariza and Mbah a Moute walk.

Still not that bad for Sacramento. They'd have their front court of the future with Capela, Bagley, and Giles.

I mean, who else is going to take Sacramento's money? Capela is better than Lavine. They literally have 19 mil guaranteed on the books for next season and no one salary above 8.5 mil. I doubt they are luring any max contract players over there. Their best bet is to over pay for someone like Capela, and hope to hit it big in the lottery. Capela is a good player, but not good enough to make their team good and hurt their lottery pick.

His regular gig is "Above the Rim" with former Cavs GM David Griffin on SiriusXM NBA Radio 9-12 CST. They are fantastic together.

I agree. That's why I put holding the bag in quotes. Although they have a lot of young front court guys now: Bagley, Giles, Skal, WCS. I still think they should sign Capela and then try to get assets for WCS and Skal.

Oklahoma City and Atlanta in trade talks, with Thunder targeting Dennis Schroder and Mike Muscala, per sources. Carmelo Anthony would go to Atlanta, with Hawks doing buyout. Atl looking to add asset to make Melo’s buyout a wash. Getting rid of Schroder is No. 1 priority.

That's interesting.

Westbrook is going to murder Schroeder. Muscala is a nice add for them, and if they can get Schroeder to be an off the bench scorer then it'll work out alright, but i can't see how he could play with Westbrook. Schroeder is a ball hog that isn't good at it. Not sure he can play off the ball and be a good contributor.

Happy to see that because I didn’t want Schroder

Omg and hear I'm thinking OKC might actually be better because of the simple subtraction that is Melo. Schroder is a high usage player that doesn't shoot well or play defense that I see being an awful fit in OKC

But hey better him there than here in Nola.

I give OKC props. This might bite them in the butt, but they consistently pursue talent and least try to make it work despite potential fit issues. With that being said, the biggest mistake OKC made was letting Harden get away. Without that happening, they would never have to make desperation trades to improve talent level for Oladipo, George, Anthony, Schroder.

I think he could be good as a 6th man, which is probably how he would be used in OKC.

ETA: I don't know if I believe this though. Why would OKC do this? Are they really going to pay that tax bill? This deal would only lower their salary by 7 mil this season, and it would be about 11 mil more than their salary would be if they stretch Melo. I don't see them stretching Schroeder, that doesn't really make sense.

Fantastic news. We are no longer in the running for Schroeder and OKC takes on a ticking time bomb.

He and Russ will kill each other

Kinda feel like the Pelicans are rolling with what we have here until Feb.

Middleton would be amazing though.

I think we will make one more move, albeit a smaller one, and the roll with that for a little bit into the season.

Yeah, it would make sense to bring in another ball handling guard. They are probably just waiting on players holding out for offers that aren’t coming.

Yeah I think Dell saw last year how he got great value with guys like Clark by waiting out and letting the money dry up. Hopefully he's able to get a couple more guys on bargain deals.

Short memory.
Last year Pels signed:
Rondo on July 19th
Miller on July 24th
Clark on August 3rd
Allen on September 15th
Dante on September 25th
All before training camp

Today is July 19th

Also last year there was more salary involved...
