Putting Barnes at the three was more just wanting to clear room for Reed to play more off the bench and the fact that most of our other bench players are guards or bigs. But while I am very high on Reed I might have been too down on Barnes. I actually just looked at 82games and it does seem like he played most of his time at the 3 and was actually pretty good there.
Barnes is a guy I would never worry about in any role. He can hit the 3 and defend. You know what you are getting from him night in and night out.

quote:No way would I take him for only a 2nd or 2. He is terrible. He is not a good defender and has not shot the 3 well in 3 years. He really only had 2 good seasons shooting the 3 years ago. So, he is a stretch 5 that cannot shoot well.
Depending on his contract I'd take him off the bulls hands for a player or a 2nd or 2.
People act like he is horrible.
He has 1 yr at 20 or 2 for 40.
Just sucks Griffin didn't think ahead about center. If he knew he wasn't re-signing Val why didn't he trade for gafford

I can 100% tell you that you don’t watch bulls games if you say that. He was the #3 option on the bulls and hated it. Every bull fans can tell you how poor his body language was. He even made comments on how frustrated he was with his role and the offense. Also he wasn’t just the worst 3 point % shooter last year, he was the worst in the last 20 years.
You hope a change of scenery can help him but I’m not sure if he would buy in to the offense. Even then, he’s a terrible PNR defender

Barnes has trouble guarding 3s now. Though I’m warming up to the idea of him being a backup 4 and Zion injury insurance
Yeah he isn’t a 3 anymore but this team has been lacking a back up 4 for a while. I would love a John Collins type guy, minus the contract obviously, that could come in, rebound, shoot a little and protect the rim a little.

I know it’s not the consensus but I will be sad to see BI in another teams uniform. Dude was a bonafide superstar in the Suns series and hit some ridiculously tough shots. His refusal to take more 3s was really the last straw when playing beside Zion but man he was a lot of fun to watch for many games. Dude can carry a team on his back when he’s on

I think a lot of us are BI fans also but not for 50+ million a year.

I like BI and will miss him. Wish him well going forward
But as stated he just doesn't make sense for us anymore
1. Money. even if it isn't 50...he won't be worth it to us to pay even more than we are now for him. He is a good player that at times teases being really good but isn't consistent and with his next contract you need him to be exactly that
2. Injuries. Not just games missed but games needed to play to get his rythym back
3. Play style and shot selection especially when paired with our best player. BI is ball dominant without an elite handle and plays the game in a way that doesn't maximize our rosters strengths or the way the game has changed

The worst part is that most of these shots are wide open too.

Don't be mistaken, this isn't just a little shooting slump. In fact, it's one of the worst shooting performances we've ever seen before in the entire history of the NBA. Vucevic currently holds the worst three-point percentage among qualified players of the last 20 years, dating back to when Antoine Walker shot 26.9% from three for the Mavericks back in 2003-04.

I appreciate the link. The article praises Vucevic quite a bit. But that was written with 20+ games left in the season. He got better and didn't finish last. Franz Wagner ended up shooting worse than him. Also, it's "qualified" shooters, which means you have to make 1 a game to qualify. Players like Anthony Davis didn’t make the list, but shot worse. Personally I don't care about Centers shooting volume 3s. It's a nice skillset to have, but not my main consideration for who I want. If you look at the list, only 8 Centers qualified (2 guys from the Wolves included). So it's not the league wide focus we make it out to be.

If I were a betting man I would put today as the day where the BI issue gets resolved with the Murray trade being able to be finalized tomorrow
Whether it’s an extension, a trade or just saying we will keep him as is going into the season.

Lol are you really going to die on the hill for fricking vucevic?
When no one in the NBA wants him, his fanbase hates him, and he can't be given away without attaching assets, brmark to the rescue.
You're a weird weird dude. Never change bro

It's a debate. I think he's a solid player and fills a massive need for us. I don't see a ton of other options.
It's weird that a talking point gets nuked so easily. There are dozens (and dozens) of posts about Carter JR. Why is this different? By all measures Vucevic is a superior player, more durable and would be cheaper to obtain. Why is it taboo to discuss?

I don't agree with most of that. He's not hated and not even on the market yet. They are floating the idea of trading him now, if they start a rebuild. I read the same rumors you do and he's not a poison asset. He's older, expensive, with a specific skill set that doesn't fit every team. So the market is not projected to be robust. That makes a good opportunity for us.

This is a dramatic reaction to a player discussion. I didn't want to lose Val. It was dumb to let him walk, especially for a cheap deal. We need a big that will eat minutes. Vucevic is that same mold. I think it's an option that bears discussion. If your primary counter argument is the fans don't like him, well good luck trading Ingram. I can post tons of negative "fan" reactions to him as well. It's a silly way to prove a point..

The thing is most of threes were wide open and he still shot a ton.
Bulls are desperate to trade him with like one center on their roster..that’s how bad he is.

I didn't realize he was so inefficient.
I guess the dwindling options at center made me even think vucevic was a decent idea.
He will cost 20 mil.
One way it could work is if the bulls attached a 1st to him or a nice young player.
But I wouldn't give up anything for him. Just sign theis.
Pels should've signed jalen smith.

The Spurs and Hornets are among teams showing interest in Brandon Ingram, per @AmicoHoops “Sources have told Hoops Wire that the San Antonio Spurs and Charlotte Hornets have emerged as potential Ingram suitors, as have the Atlanta Hawks, who will soon officially move guard Dejounte Murray to New Orleans. Perhaps that trade could be expanded if the Hawks are truly that interested in Ingram.”

The Jazz and Magic still have too many centers. They were always the most likely targets, assuming that the Cavs want to run it back. So, the primary options remain in place.
I'll be surprised if the deal isn't done by tomorrow when we finalize the Atlanta trade.
